Go on, call me a conservative red neck now. You know you want to do it. How about racist or woman hater? That's also in the instruction manual.

You never used to be like this, have you considered this? You were on this site for years and never gave a shit about The Huddle or "woke" politics.

That's why I don't think you're racist or a woman hater at your core.

Your brain is cooked by social media algorithms. You're behaving like someone deep in the throes of methamphetamine psychosis, precisely because the social media dopamine feedback loops replicate that same brain chemistry.

As the excellent South London grime artists Dave says: "Ever seen a 'nuff man rated, losing his mind because of the food that he's taking?"

Mike Pence is Trump's son-in-law?

As I linked above, Kushner was put in charge first. Here's another link.

That he's put Pence in charge now is even worse. Pence the God bothering freak who made the AIDS epidemic in Indiana so much worse.

So which expert told him to lie to the American people every time he spoke to them? To downplay the risk? To claim it would be gone by April? Not to use a proven testing kit and try and develop their own? etc etc

I think Snake's point is that Trump isn't a health professional and doesn't make decisions based on his mood or feelings, he relies on specialists and makes a decision based on their recommendations. If he said I am going to do X when all my advisors are saying to do Y then I am sure these people would say this is not what I told the president, especially given how serious an issue is.

That doesn't mean he didn't make a bad call and he is implicated in that due to dismantling the pandemic task force when he came into office, but I think the bulk of the media is democratic biased and they have been found countless times lying about Trump and pushing false narratives that it is hard to trust the media there in terms of unbiased political opinion.

I think if he was ignoring expert opinion then it would be common knowledge.

So the head of the Harvard World Health Institute was wrong when he said he can't believe how bad the American response had been and lamented that Vietnam had a better testing regime?

The American testing regime is abysmal. These systems weren't implemented by Trump, it is like the nonsense of blaming Morrison for bushfires or blaming him for going on holidays, like there is anything he can do about it. Media often fans irrational comments that are politically motivated to cause harm simply due to politics.

I don't know what you mean about the level of sincerity of us lot. I certainly sincerely believe that Trump's failure of leadership on Covid19 is just about the worst since Chamberlain said let's make a deal with Hitler. Holding leadership to account is not political opportunism. Failing to do so is rank stupidity.

I think America made a bad call, simply because like us, they had a fairly tight border when the virus was contained in China. When it reached Europe, the country got contaminated. Without completely isolating the country, there is no way to adequately test huge numbers of people.

The major problem is that at a local level, they have been really poor in tracking down people who may have been exposed and placing tighter quarantine controls. Trump couldn't stop muslims from terrorist hotbeads getting into the USA, to make it sound he has some magical power to stop infected people that are impossible to detect en masse getting into the USA is disingenuous.

Given the size, the population and just how much traffic goes through the USA, it is impossible. China did it because they were able to weld people into their apartment complexes and other draconian measures, he doesn't have the same powers. America is facing a looming catastrophe but it is one of numerous levels. He probably made what he believes is the best decision based on the advice of people who think this is the best he can hope to do with the power they have. I am sure UK is also making similar tough choices.

We have a relative small population and are relatively isolated, it is a lot easier for us to be more proactive about it.

What do you make of the German professor who says that the coronavirus has existed for a long time?

I haven't listened yet, but he's almost certainly right.

Ummmmmmmmm, have you been watching American politics since 2016?

That EXACTLY what he does.

He BRAGS about doing it ffs.

Meanwhile, Donald Trump is the president who says “I have a gut, and my gut tells me more sometimes than anybody else’s brain can ever tell me.”

They are an entire Group IV: ssRNA family of viruses that are hypothesized to have been around for hundreds of years, and have almost certainly been around for multiple decades.

Best phylogenetic estimates are that they did originate from bats, possibly crossing over through camels, cats (civets) or caniforms (dogs, bears possums), on their way to humans.

It wouldn't take a huge leap of faith to suggest China-->bat-->dog/bear-->human.

Alternatively, you could just put it down to Donald Trump.

Yeah and then what? Do they have to send it to a lab? Which labs are testing for it? How does the lab conduct the test? How accurate are the tests?

This seems like very important information to know, especially for those who believe this virus is more deadly than the flu.

Yes, it goes to a lab. The test is a RT-PCR test, it detects and amplifies genetic material. It is the same test used measure viral load with HIV and RNA viruses like measles and mumps.

The problem is that is unreliable for coronavirus if you have a small amount of the virus in the sample, so when you are detected early it will often come up as a false negative. The doctor in China who died who warned about the virus failed several tests after he was showing symptoms before he got a positive test result.

I'm sorry but there is a fair bit of nonsense in this post.

The media has not been found "countless times lying about Trump and pushing false narratives".

During the H1N1 outbreak, the USA managed to develop and ship and effective test 15 days after the first discovery of the virus and had shipped 1 million tests within the first month. The first known case of Covid19 was December 1st and the WHO had a perfectly functioning test. The USA has tested less that 20,000 in 8 weeks. South Korea tests 10,000 per day. South Australia with 1.6 million people has tested more patients than in the USA. The buck has to stop at the top.

Trump has done one thing right. He listened to the experts when they advised suspending flights from China. There is no evidence that he has listened to experts at any other point. He has been freelancing and it has been a disaster.

Finally yesterday he met with state Governors who seemed to make him aware of the seriousness of the issue. He is an idiot completely out of his depth.

Don't you get tired of making excuse for him?

Good posting Tas.

Of course, if you do have the infection, then coughing up some expectorant should not be an issue. A alternative virally infected subject could present, get a rightful negative Covid19 response, and then pick up the actual virus in an intervening period. PCR is usually a good diagnostic method.

.........................or alternatively................you could just blame Donald Trump for the "false negatives"

In terms of things like the virus response or military response or intelligence response... I don't think so.

Things like getting on the front foot in terms of tackling China and the migration of manufacturing outside the USA, definitely.

Even his stance on climate change is backed up by qualified people telling him it is either bullshit or whatever they do doesn't matter if China, India, Africa, etc aren't required to match the same reductions.

It is not like he is the hand of god and can do whatever he wants to do, how many times has he been reigned in? He couldn't even build the wall he promised.

No boogie man = no facilitation of alternative political platform.

So it isn't all media hysteria now whipped up because the climate change hoax is failing?

Some of us have been saying this for ages now.

Welcome aboard.

Oh wow, this is just delusional. As in it goes against actual history that happened.

Proven fact.

You may not think so, but you're wrong.

He put JARED KUSHNER in charge of Israel - Palestine peace.

This is just bizarre stuff.

Oh I see it is back to being a boogie man.

You're seriously unwell mate. It's sad to see.

Yeah, about that.

Like with everything that is reported it's all half 'truths' that allow every possible opinion on the matter, from every angle imaginable, to be validated.

The concept of 'truth' is a distant memory to me at this stage.

For those that don't know, the only staff on the ground floor will be customer facing.

Our league has also cancelled presentation night but hasn’t made the decision to cancel grand finals yet. I have seen the most recent email from crixket Australia and they make it very clear that they expect no more cricket to be played.

Confirmed as cancelled.

Premiers baby!!!!

Time to hit the beers, we've bought a slab of Corona to mark the occasion. 😁

Good to see you're regurgitating AOC's talking points now.

A bit of perspective. It was Scott country in Indiana. A population of 23870 (Indiana's is 6.69 million so ~0.003%).

Drug addicts sharing needles caused the spike and needle exchange programs were illegal at the time in Indiana. Research shows that the pros outweigh the negatives. Saying he made the AIDS epidemic "so much worse" is hilarious when it went from 80-200 people in a year. A spike in drug activity in a small county is Pence's fault...

Only if you let it go.

I have let it go and I've let it go by choice.

You claim Snake has had his brain cooked by social media but who hasn't at this stage? Thanks to the internet we've gone from social bubbles being based primarily on locality to bubbles based primarily on people who think the same as us, or like the same things as us, or some other reason for self selection. We're almost all cooked to one degree or another, mate, and society at large is just encouraging us to double down on the habits and thinking that caused it in the first place because people have found out how to make money and gain influence off of it, and who really gives a shit if we're rewiring our brains to turn us into righteous outrage fueled consumers.

I've absolutely given up on trying to find 100% valid truths on almost everything, because I think that it's largely impossible to do so these days, and far too many people (myself included) work themselves into a ****ing tizzy trying to defend the ones they identify with and attack the ones that run counter.

So my upstairs neighbour runs an Airbnb from his apartment, and has international travellers in and out all the time. Late last week he started feeling sick, sore throat, aches and a dry, persistent cough. Managed to get to a doctor today and they agreed that he had the symptoms. They sent him to to Alfred to get tested.

He rocks up, tells them all the above, and they say no test for you. He's feeling a bit better now though so he's ok. My partner hung out with him a bit last Thursday. She now has a fever, sore throat. So, I'm thinking of staying home from work and going to docs tomorrow with my partner although i have no confidence that we will get tested if my neighbour got knocked back despite having the symptoms. Personally, I've had a bit of a headache and am a bit chesty but otherwise feel fine.

GarnerSmash time for kicking back and taking it easy mate, hope you are better soon.
