If that is the case then why are you bothering with continual sterilizations?

You only have to bother with this if you leave and return, or to ensure visitors sterilize before they enter your premises.
I only do it when I'm out in public on environments when other people are constantly touching the same stuff I am.

I don't think the virus is around those places yet either but its something I'm doing to train myself to keep doing it when things are more serious. Probably by Wednesday around here.

I did a little test on how often I touched my mouth unthinkingly a week ago. It was ridiculous how often it happened and how ... autonomic it was.

Evidently.

Australia and most of the rest of the 'develoed' world have swallowed the War on Germs even more than we swallowed the War on Terror.

Apparently not all of us have friends and family with small businesses getting wrecked by this.

Not 'maybe' going to catch a flu which 'maybe' will kill them.

Already losing business which will lead to sackings, scalings back, and closures.

Reality vs scary stories on the TV.

I fell for WMDs and argued with people at the time who were skeptical. I bought into the fear and the 'we must act now' narrative.

I'm not making that mistake again. I learned my lesson.

I'll leave my posts in this thread there for now. I won't reply to the next five or ten people who pile on me for daring to be honest about all of this.

Fear has taken hold of the public, especially those addicted to the internet.

Rational discussions about reality are almost impossible once this happens.

I didn't buy wmds for a minute and still talk online with the guy who coined the term 9/11 truth.

There is rarely if ever an occasion when the state doesn't.

That doesn't mean that all this is by design. They are far too incompetent and clumsy to initiate something like this on purpose.

True but it's opportunistic nature of the state - the way it uses every opportunity to extend its power, intrude on our lives and make itself more than it deserves that I am getting at. It's function creep. It's not that "they" initiated it, it's what "they'll" do if "they" get the chance.

A very wise man (who is now a county court judge) once told me that when it comes to choosing between conspiracy & incompetence, with regard to politics & bureaucracy, then you go with the latter every time, and you will return a high success rate.

Frontline health professionals are some of the real heroes of this pandemic. They put themselves in harm's way to help those struck by the virus:

"Just before he was tested for covid-19, Marcello Natali appeared in a TV news interview to show how dire the situation had become for doctors on the front lines.
From his hospital in Codogno, Italy, the general practitioner raised a bottle of hand sanitizer and showed his face mask. But as for protective gloves,
“They have run out,” he told Euronews late last month. “Certainly, we were not prepared to face this situation."
Natali died Wednesday after testing positive for the novel coronavirus and then battling double pneumonia, Italy’s National Federation of Doctors and General Practitioners announced in a statement. He was 57."

Regardless of which mathematical formulas I apply to the Chinese Coronavirus numbers it doesn’t compute.

They are as rubbery as a an ALP budget.

Take it to the Bank.

LOL, Lib budget not looking great. Was bullshit BEFORE the virus.

Yeah that's usually a good choice. But conspiracies do happen. There's no over arching one to rule the world tho. We'd never know about a well planned conspiracy because one of the first things that would happen would be control of whatever information that could expose it. Obviously it was incompetence that enabled the Iran Contra thing to come out for example. Poorly planned I guess.

But the PATRIOT ACT in the US, the way it abandoned its constitution, national security laws here, anti association laws, which are literally Draconian and even the curfews in South America that tales old footy teammate described a few posts up are a bit much.

Not conspiracies just over reach and function creep.

The situation evolves hour to hour day to day.

Honestly have no idea how the AFL sat in a room and made the decision to continue with round 1.

It was dodgy when they made the call and as it's evolving its now going to break regulations as set out today.

The sheer arrogance is astounding.

Government wants them to.

The social tension is at breaking point and people need footy. Also, if they play a round or two, then they can suspend it and tell people "Be good and follow the rules and you can have footy back".

Collingwood supporters will be all we're winning a premiership, don't do nuffin wrong!

This is one of the reasons were doing what we do m2f.

It takes years to train a doctor, then add years more knowledge as they gain experience. We're protecting that as well, not just "old people."

Unfortunately, no matter who is in, the budget after this was always going to hell

That's just as well, because there are no Australians with pre-existing conditions.

Also, people would have died without corona, so nobody should worry about people dying of corona.

What is happening in Africa right now?

Where are the videos of people dieing in the streets?

They don't exist. There's a reason for that.

Jesus you sound like a first year uni student.

You don't even know what's happening in AFRICA Stacey!

Oh don't you tell me to be quiet Stacey, you're not even my REAL MOM!

I understand the nature of media and have seen enough it to know purposeful hype when I see it.

Nah, you understand the easy bits.

You don't understand the nature though.

Kind of like me and science.

It is funny how all the edgelords who think they are independent thinkers standing against the brainwashed masses all sound the same, have the same lines.

And these lines all emerge from think tanks funded by obscenely wealthy Americans and Brits who disseminate the stuff on social media.

The edgelords pick up these ideas from social media, unaware of just how effectively their brains are being manipulated by by the social media technology (the closest example is pokie addiction, although meth works as well) and run with them, all **** a hoop in the dopamine rush of being transgressive and "outlaws" who call it as it is, not how the sooks and snowflakes want it.

Once these ideas have circulated online long enough via the edgelords and then boomer memes, they get laundered into the discourse via NewsCorp journos, and then into the mainstream political discourse.

You can see it plain as day - Rita Panahi running the Wubonic plague and Chinese virus shit.

It isn't just funny that you could take the posts of mouncey2franklin or Boomer29er or Shorts Steps and change the names and the lines are the same.

It is almost depressing that these imbeciles don't realise they are running an agenda for rich people who despise them, who have a truly sick vision for human society (Peter Thiel ...) in which they, the edgelords and independent thinkers, will not do at all well.

Just read the Caroline Wilson article in The Age re this crisis and the AFL. Honestly fellow North supporters....do you really think our club can survive this? Could I please have some objective opinions on whether you think some clubs will actually disappear as a result of this situation?
