At the risk of again invoking Trump, he has now put US funding to the WHO on hold until they can review their role in what he has stated was "covering up" the spread and impact of COVID-19. I can't see defunding a global health organisation being helpful in the long run, regardless of your politics

UV wavelengths at the boundary of "non-ionizing radiation" can have mutagenic effects.

Not at all. Whilst he has been on the record in favour of face-to-face learning and has followed Murphy's advice on the subject, he didn't have much choice in the matter of his kids as they attend a Baptist school. Most independent schools in NSW shut down earlier than the public ones in NSW. His kids were still at school on the 22 of March and the closures happened shortly after according to news reports.

I get the divisive communications argument and I agree with it, but it has only occurred because there are different state and federal interests at play.

Ah yes indeed it is "interesting". But in isolation it is entirely irrelevant.

My take, and I suspect the take of others, is that you are trying to say that the number of deaths from covid-19 in the USA is not all that significant, because the number of deaths from all sources is down in March 2020 versus the preceding few years.

You also say "Statistics is a serious business". Indeed it is. But do you actually know anything about statistical theory?

If so, then why haven't you also talked about other variables, such as the potential for seasonal conditions from year to year to vary the number of deaths up or down, or the severity of the usual flues from year to year, or the possibility that additional precautions may have been taken such as more people getting vaccinated against the usual flues.

In the absence of a proper statistical analysis, there is only one fact that is absolute this March in relation to the number of people who have died in the USA (and in every other country in the world) and that is that this year we have a new killer, being covid-19. In the USA this year, 25949 people have in total died or have been assessed to have died as a result of contracting covid-19.

On balance of probability most of these people were most likely to have not died this year, without the new variable, being covid-19.

Echelon is part of the UKUSA network, it has been very real for a long time. We've been heading down this path since 1947 in actuality. Places like Pine Gap are why the USA gives us some of their better tactical defence technologies.
