I think we need a strategic reserve of tests. If we get to 7 days with the standard amount of tests (circa 10k per day) roll out an extra 100k the following week purely for random community testing. If we are still at zero then roll back the restrictions.

It is hard to believe that significant voices in the USA are pushing to unwind restrictions when they are still recording circa 20% positive tests.
We would still have over a million test kits left. We only just imported 1.5 million tests a short while back, on top of the few hundred thousand we started with, and we’ve tested around 370,000.

The talk about improving tracing is encouraging, but I hope there is a push for more random testing than in just hotspots over the month and a half.

Just keep thinking:

PM has basically said we have four weeks of measures in place, that brings us to 14th may (rough date), with a date like that that means low/nil cases until then. At least with a date set with a projection, most people will accept it with lower cases.
Week after, figure they start opening up a handful of things, like allow increase in gatherings to 10 people, How can a club train etc with those in place? Still having lock-down in states outside of NSW/QLD as they don't want cross border infections, I don't see that lifting until much later
Most of the clubs have had to terminate staff, hereby reducing the turnaround to return to get a club up and conduct running, training, structures etc
I see a month (just roughly) after we go back to 50 people gathering, assuming we follow similar restrictions in how we closed down as we want to reduce the flare up in cases

If its just me? Thats ok

Your thinking is similar to mine. I honestly reckon best case if we're serious about this is things beginning to return towards normality around end of June. That's with everything going smoothly. By normality I mean some sort of normal working environment for most. Still encouragement of restrictions on distancing, avoidance of large gatherings and closed borders still in place.

How about speeding tickets by gps? As soon as the crime is committed, they could instantly charge your bank account.

Hehe, i don't think they should be fining you for driving offences, fines should have been discontinued when they introduced the demerit point system. Once the government has their hand in your pocket, it can be hard to get it out of it.

We will eventually get to self-driving cars and we will not have to worry about speeding or fines.

I can accept people wont like the month but at least with a committed date people will largely still adhere to it.

I just keep thinking the NRL are totally dreaming nevertheless

That's it, yep. I think two weeks of zero cases then saying "This is the end date on x if we do not have any further cases" is workable. I think rolling back restrictions, regressing then trying to reimplement would be an absolute disaster economically but also in particular when it comes to mental health. Personally I'm back working now due to the type of work I do but with two days from home, I was also sick and isolated for two weeks prior to the current shutdown. I'm a serious home body but even I'm struggling a bit after being at home for close to 5-6 weeks straight and barely poking my head outside my own yard...

People will wear two weeks of zero.

Then they'll wear two more if they get to watch stories about the footy players training, and see the players training etc.

If I was confident that there were safeguards in place, that any changes were strictly temporary, that all data collected would be destroyed or at least anonymised at the end of the threat, and that there was sufficient independent oversight, then yes I would be okay with it.
in other words, "No"

a sensible approach would be to use the same mechanism to govern the speed the vehicle could travel at in that spot, but cant see that happening as revenue would evaporate overnight.

Estimates have now put Jeff Bezos's wealth @$219 billion, up $40 billion due to the current crisis.

That's because he was charging $80US in Tokyo for a 12pk of toilet paper.

Sorry Jeff, l'll risk going to my local store 🖕

Eat. The. Rich.

Not just that. When you cross double lines on windy country roads. Every time you fail to completely stop at a stop sign.

Now that we have the technology there is no reason we shouldn't go the whole hog and demand people subject themselves to 24/7 smart device surveillance.

It can all be reviewed by AI for signs of deviance and that way peoples privacy will be protected and there is no need for courts or what have you cos the AI will be unbiased and have access to the truth.

Well finally have utopia.

There comes a time when people should just go to prison as a protest.

If 5000 people did it the system would collapse.

Tell. Them. To. Get. ****ed.

Are they for profit?

Because if they are I'm sure they'd find a way to welcome 500 new customers.

If they came they would build it.

Housing people in Victorian prisons is a very expensive exercise.

No compliance with pedantic state revenue raising or legal bullshit would soon see it shelved, but of course, the overwhelming majority comply, so they continue to take an inch a light year.
