The extra testing may see brief surges over the next week or so, but it allows us to find everyone with the virus in Australia.Out of 2000+ tests, that is great result!
She won't touch it.
Why not ? Would have thought it would be right up her alley

I mean we're talking about someone who is getting paid half a million dollars this year to play Xbox and go for a run in his car while pissed every now and then.
They are pushing a few agendas. The school stuff has petered out a bit and is now focused on winding back restrictions. There appears to be an upswing in media mood across Australia that this is just about wrapped up? Anyone else interpreting that mood?

The jump to 29 in nsw shows that we need to be on our toes.

Interested to get the thoughts of those of you that are following this a lot more closely than myself, on where we will be in terms of restrictions in the next 6 weeks?
I hope we didn’t buy any of those dodgy Chinese testing kits.I know from some second-hand information they have been expanding the ICU capacity quite extensively for a few weeks, which is one of the three tenets ScoMo wanted.
The testing and tracing are the two remaining things keeping us away from relaxing restrictions.
Testing now anyone with symptoms - who knows how much that will expand the testing numbers but very, very, very low positive test rates at the moment make me think people will still not believe what they're seeing. (as in, expand to 5000 a day of randoms, still 3-5 positives, people not convinced the testing is exhaustive enough because the numbers are so low)
Tracing...they have massively expanded their tracing taskforce - will that satisfy the govt, or do they in their mind have a certain % they need to opt in to the App?
Two more weeks of April and we might see slight changes - allowing people to see family, gatherings of 10 people, etc.
Maybe more businesses open up from the 11th May, which is turn forces Dan the Man's hand on opening schools (teacher's union won't be happy)
Can't see overseas travel anytime for a long time though I feel

You have to remember though that (for some strange reason) Victoria had their school holidays earlier than everyone else this year. From memory, Queensland kids are due to go back this coming Monday, but all other states don't go back until the 27th. (28th for WA as they're the only state that gets an Anzac day holiday).
So I can see the school stuff debate ramping back up soon.

The schools will remain a divisive point because of the state’s control over schooling and implementing their own different controls. Yesterday’s guidelines have helped clear up that point. You have to remember though that (for some strange reason) Victoria had their school holidays earlier than everyone else this year. .There does seem to be a bit of being 5 goals up at 3/4 time and already lighting up a post-coital gasper about this.

Yep. I was supposed to be travelling to WA over the past 2 weeks, so tripped across this little nugget. Remembering that Public Holidays are a State responsibility ultimately. Most states count Saturday as a work day and the 25th falls on a Saturday this year. Obviously, WA is different. Quite clear that they want to secede! ;-)
