It makes you realise how hysteria and potential threat can wipe out countries economic growth
Its a catch 22 though without the curfews this spreads faster than the flu and kills twice as much
So an element of caution is needed

just as an aside, just before Xmas I started to get the sniffles and shortness of breath, something that I had experienced 4 months earlier, on Xmas day I went to the movies and felt ok, boxing day I went and did my usual exercise routine, by the 27th (early afternoon) I could not move, eyes were extremely sensitive, breathing difficult, very high temp...visited the Dr a few times and in the waiting room I overheard another person saying "I've been struck down with this flu, I cannot do anything, it's terrible" which was precisely how I felt.

anyways, Dr put me on the steroids and anti biotics and said ("yours in the worst I have seen of the 5 who've come in today with similar symptoms") and did a blood test a few days later. Dr surgery calls me back two days later after the blood test and says to attend ASAP, so I did, and he was concerned about the white blood cell count being high and I asked what it is causing it, he said he wasn't sure but a virus of some sort and that my body is fighting hard to eradicate it.

had another dose of anti biotics prescribed and that was nearly 4 weeks ago. This all happened before Coronavirus went ballistic in the news and it has made me wonder what on earth it is that I really had...to this day I can say that I am still not completely 100%, actually, not even close, but am getting there...I can say that whatever it is is absolutely devastating and without doubt the worst I have felt in a long time. The toll that the virus I had took on my lungs and ability to breath (am asthmatic too) was horrific, and although I know I had pneumonia I don't know if it is associated with COV19.

My work actually puts me face to face with many people from mainland China on a daily basis and it got me thinking if I was exposed sometime in mid December when we had a large number of mainland Chinese clients.

I wouldn't like to be a doctor and have to determine between a bad flu, SARS or this new virus. Bit late when you come back to the surgery and say the antibiotics didn't work and now my organs have failed.
I do reckon tho that as long as your still breathing after two months then you should be OK, but you may have to look at the reasons why you went to the movies on Xmas day and not fight with the rellies like many others.

Was on standby over Xmas so popping down to Carlton for a movie eased the boredom of being away from family. :)

WHO is a useless, corrupt organisation.

Well that was predictable.

Caesar, perhaps a bit of knowledge may help you before you post?

World Health Organisation division tackling coronavirus underfunded and facing internal corruption allegations

There has also been a surge in internal corruption allegations across the whole of the organisation, with the detection of multiple schemes aimed at defrauding large sums of money from the international body.

Not to mention the head of WHO being an Ethiopian whose government is trying to finalise a deal for billions of bucks from China. No pressure, mate. Do as your conscience dictates and nevermind pissing them off mightily. Oh you're just going to keep it low-key and republish whatever China sends you until it is obvious its bullshit? You're a gentleman and a scholar.

Me commenting that it’s predictable for you to offer no substantive commentary and write off the information source as corrupt, is not the same as me saying that the WHO is not corrupt.

It is widely known that the WHO is corrupt and useless, bit like night following day.

Perhaps you should keep your bitchy comments to yourself.

Threaten to charge university students and universities with manslaughter if they bring the virus to our shores. That's probably the best way to contain the virus. Force them to give a shit about infecting others.

Except they don't know if they are contagious? good plan, court case would be interesting to say the least.

and while they are in the prison and court system, which lucky officials with no medical training get to interact with them

The incubation period is the key to all of this. In the early days of AIDS the scientists were terrified when people who showed symptoms in the early days of the disease in the early 80s were likely infected two or three years previous.

Great to see Lord Copper has been busily slashing the budgets of all the science and medical organisations in the US that will be required to respond to this. And then he plays it down and starts talking about how awesome the stock market is.
There aren't sufficient words for how myopic and venal this man is

And that article was written in the Torygraph... so it's not anti conservative.

Australia has huge exposure/mixing to china, yet other countries are getting serious outbreaks already. It doesn't add up. Must be because its winter

Do we have it but its not showing up?

Might it be because we're not as densely populated? That cruise ship for example where they were all jammed in like sardines in a tin, nearly 700 people ended up with the virus against all attempts to contain the spread. Hong Kong, given population density will have bigger problems than we will?

There is still hope he might catch it

Isolation and very low population density are going to be Australia's friend here.

Not as densely populated, it is summer and whilst nowhere near tough enough the govt did at least partially restrict arrivald from china.

Attempting to blame Trump for the Corona virus is as pathetic as blaming Morrison for the fires. How was the tone? The backlash will hit Trump like a tidal wave and could sweep Sanders into power. Lol

Trump is taking credit for curing cancer - CoronaVirus should be a cinch for him

Katrina was a big part in republican downfall in Dubya years

The point is: Voting in these entertaining triggering Drongos might be amusing, but would people still do it if there was a real threat instead of overblown boogie men e.g. mexicans
