The backlash will hit Trump like a tidal wave and could sweep Sanders into power. Lol

I wouldn’t be laughing. If Sanders can manage to implement universal healthcare that would mean Americans would go to the doctor and get their symptoms treated early, stemming the flow of the disease.

Be ironic if the major cause of the disease spreading in the US was uninsured peoples reluctance to go to the doctor due to financial considerations.

Isolation and very low population density are going to be Australia's friend here.
Australia is one of the most urbanised countries in the world. We live mainly in cities. We go to shopping centres, schools, sports events, work places.

Sure its not like the city crush you'd see in SE Asian or African cities, but we dont live across a paddock from each other either.

They are still some of the least densely populated cities in the world.

We are not even close to European cities regards density

What also saves us is we don’t congregate in public as much.

Drive from our McMansions on crowded freeways and then return to lock ourselves back behind locked doors and security systems getting a driver to leave groceries and a take away dinner on the doorstep and then don’t go outside and socialise with our neighbours, just stay inside and watch Commercial TV telling us how afraid we need to be of this killer virus:

(Dailymail article included for example of fearmongering not because I find it an authoritative source)

This will be a good argument for universal health care for all nations

Although I don’t see this being a major issue. My punt is a global flu but in greater numbers. For most who get it, no issue unless one is young, old or has existing health issues.

Great learnings will come from this.

Actually in America the bigger issue is people who know they are sick but still go into work at subway because the working class is absolute poverty over here.

Australia has huge exposure/mixing to china, yet other countries are getting serious outbreaks already. It doesn't add up. Must be because its winter

Do we have it but its not showing up?

Its just a matter of time here. Our Chinese population locally here have done a fantastic job of limiting the virus from community spread. But the average Joe returning from Bali won't - it will take off like wildfire over there, if it hasnt already, and then we will have major outbreaks here within a couple of months. Those who are complacent or blase about this are going to put the elderly and those with weakened immune symptoms at great risk. 20% end up in intensive care. No hospital system in the world will cope.

There is no way known that Indonesia doesn't have people within it infected with Covid19.
Like Iran, there will have to be deaths before they admit it. Protecting their tourist image as long as they can. But it will be to our detriment, as the typical Aussie will bring it back and refuse to admit they are unwell as they spread it to the community

Their president says they don't have it because they believe in God

I feel that while i like chucking bricks at scummo - their response has been pretty good to this - been a step ahead of who.

amazing - he can do leadership when he tries.
Wonder how much was dictated by the need to get rid of the rorts linked to his office off the front page and how much was good judgement

The learnings from the Great Depression was to not tighten the belt.

I feel the learnings from this virus will be similar. The virus will do what it will do anyway, shutting down daily life (globally) will prove costly and will be measured in the loss of life.

How many people did the japanese govt post Fukushima?
