The electorate was foolish enough to demand a more authoritarian government, calling for the federal government to create a constitutional crisis by bringing in the military without permission of the states/ premiers.

This is now a likely development. Imagine that, a short term issue that the military could resolve has resulted in the long term loss of control to protect the citizens from the army and its government.

Corona, despite being a storm in a tea cup could very well compound this issue. The electorate can be so short sighted sometimes.

Fingers crossed the states and the state health system resolves this, rather than the army.

Pneumonia is a general term for inflammation of the lung, and usually refers to inflammation caused by infection. The vaccine you are probably referring to (pneumovax) is a vaccine against one specific organism that causes pneumonia in the community (streptococcus pneumoniae).

Unfortunately this will not immunise you from getting a pneumonia caused by other organisms, including SARS-CoV2.

Mate, don’t get me started on the subs. Only a fool would think $85b-$100b for an unproven sub program makes sense. All up with maintenance (excluding refits) is $250b.....for 12 subs which we will only have the crew for 3-4 subs.

Yes we should reallocate funds and spend more wisely. There’s a simple $65b saving by ordering 6 off the shelf subs. I’d prefer to go even further and hold off for the unmanned sub.

Landcare management is a $5-10b effort that addresses water, run off, carbon, fires and reduces chemicals in our environment. It’s productive, creates jobs and pays for itself. This makes loads of sense.

- what did the doctor say? I trust the doctor was negligent and dismissed the likelihood of corona and didn't advise isolation

Just in reports this weekend, we had the Hobart guy who went back to work at a hotel, a Perth woman who went to a concert, a Sydney guy who went shopping, and the doc who continued working with cold like symptoms. Add to that the idiots in the USA who have attended work conferences and major events.

This is the big difference between us and china/Korea/Japan/Singapore. There have been some cases in these countries of people not giving a ****, but it's been a handful over a couple of months. We are one week in of this getting more momentum, and already people are saying **** it.

Even in Italy, where 16m around Lombardy are in quarantine, dozens of flights have been allowed to the UK since after the restriction was brought in.

Travel bans and masks won't do shit if we don't respect self quarantining

self isolation doesn’t work.imo.
we need to open up all the old detention centres and put people there, under strict supervision.

I have no issues with how they have managed the health issue. I am slightly worried that he is so obsessed with trying to preserve the surplus that he will undercook fiscal stimulus.

The RBA has been begging Treasury to loosen the purse strings for months. If the government waits til the May budget to announce its package (as its indicated it might) we will be well into recession before the spending takes effect.

We really shouldn’t be going into a negative growth period with interest rates already at 0.5%. It leaves us very little space to move. The current government needs to wear some blame for putting too much reliance on monetary policy to prop up the economy.
