Are those linked to overseas travel - in line with a large amount of people returning over the past week - or are those an increase in community transmission?

Thats a pretty important distinction before imposing even more restrictions onto society
Unfortunately, the federal government doesn't have a handle on that question. They banned people coming in from China but they allowed infected people from other nations to enter the US. Don't get me started on the cruise industry. Or that Mardi Gras was held. The federal government spent the past month calling it a hoax and not preparing for the influx of cases. It will come at a great cost to our nation. Infected people are still traveling state-to-state for the lack of federal policy. Don't be like us.

Hard to know, but we're testing less than any other state except Tas so it doesn't look good:

The NSW Government letting a passengers from a large cruise ship just walk off without being tested last week has screwed them over big time. And we still have large amounts of people returning from overseas this weekend, so im guessing it will be a few weeks until numbers start to dip.

Right now, we seems to be handling the number of cases fairly well and our death rate compared to other countries at the same point is excellent. Hopefully we have brought enough time to prevent large spread pain and have contained this even a small amount.

Yes it is, But if people keep refusing to listen to our Politicians - Doctors - Nurse's who are pleading with us DO NOT got out unless it is essential to do so.What choice do they have ? People going to the Beach - Shopping centres - Bunnings and so on. FFS its a small sacrifice

Read a book
No never. I’ve tried. I will read 20 pages but I am thinking about other things and then completely forget what I read. Most people like reading. I can’t. Only read one book in 12 years of schooling. It was hard to write about a book when you didn’t read it. If I remember rightly they had cheat books on the larger books so I suppose I did read books but they were about 10 pages compared 400

In defence if Bunnings that could be work related. I’ve been there this week for work. The rest aren’t necessarily at all. The beach is madness. Walk along the beach. That’s fine just don’t stop and sunbake.

Do not ignore these people! Don't fall into the trap that US states have fallen into because our federal government has not taken this seriously. It's a small sacrifice.

Any ideas apart from tv for a person who just cannot read a book even a sports book. Luckily I will still be working next week by the looks of it. Well at least early in the week but with no sport and most likely no racing I need to activities. No painting of the house allowed as a suggestion. Rather stick my in a crocks mouth.

Computer games

Who could ever have imagined that a statement like this could be a positive?
😞

Funny that, I found the Goldfinch so terribly drawn out that I ditched it right near the end.
I’ve learnt to do that if I’m not enjoying a book, not worth the time.

...and now for a few completely different...
*any and all of John Boyne’s books - he’s a terrific writer. Especially A History of Loneliness and The Heart’s Invisible Furies.
*The magic strings of Frankie Presto by Mitch Albom (Tuesdays with Morrie)
*A gentleman in Moscow by Amor Towles - slow but beautifully written

George maybe time for an in season/off season bookclub thread? 😊

I like thi idea a lot - will start with some of these......

Will keep me off the main board where I stupidly read a thread 'Why Hasn't there been more pressure on St Kilda over the years?'.....it is basically posters mainly Carlton supporters laying the boots in to the Saints about what a s..t club it is. The a mod comes along - yep he is a Carlton mod for impartiality. That stuff should be in Bay 13 and I should know better that to post on those threads.

I’ve just been thinking how the numbers are reported on the cv. Really to be honest who cares how many people have it. For nearly everyone it’s a minor virus and reporting the high numbers just puts panic into the community. What we really need to report are the numbers in hospital and in intensive care. That is the important. If every Australian got which is 25 million and 100 died compared to 25 million Americans getting it and 50 k dying well obviously we have been very lucky or managed it better. This doesn’t mean I don’t get the curve because I do but I’d rather know who is really ill than the numbers who have it. That way we know if we are going to run out of room in the hospitals. That seems to be why many are dying in some countries.

Have you considered going online and arguing with anonymous strangers? I hear that's quite fun. 😉

graphic novels?
The thing about books vs movies, books let you become part of the story n immersive experience, movies are just there, if you can get the hang of it your old age will be a lot easier on you, even audio books can be a good start.

Sounds alright, get her in the mood. I went to Cornwall a few years ago to see where the ancestors came from. It was some random shithole but all these middle age women made pilgrimages there because the filmed a show with some porny looking guy with long hair. I tried to watch an episode and it was s**t. Pretty sure it was made just for dirty middle aged women. It doesn't take much.

I have a kilt you can borrow if you dry clean it after.

Actually I wouldn’t want it back. It’s yours.
