booze selection is reasonable. don't have a lot of beers, but they have a pretty extensive selection of brand name liquours, at reasonable prices

example - got a carton of heinny tinnies last night - $40

once every couple of months and gets staples in bulk like toilet roles etc
Surely there are only two toilet roles. Unless you count vomiting, then there's three.

Obtained membership whilst in Sydney, not an ideal store to do grocery shopping unless you have a family with at least two kids, but got some good novelty stuff and some cheap basic clothing items which were good. The hot dogs and pizza slices etc in their café are great value for money and superior to the IKEA equivalent.

But Costco doesn't look like it's coming to the oppositie side of the continent for some time. They are currently building a store in Adelaide and I think they have opened a store in Brisbane, but I think I remember reading that they'd rather open three stores in South Australia before they even think about coming to WA.

Love Coscto. Go at least once per month.

New one in Ringwood will be great. They are also looking at building a 3rd one in Epping.
Basically right behind the McDonalds at the end of Childs road. Whittlesea council to vote on it by end of year.

I know a couple of people who swear by the hearing aids.

As someone who grew up in Ringwood, I find the store location odd. Good luck with parking.

It's a pretty great company, at least in the US. Pays all of its frontline employees a liveable wage, makes a point of training/educating shop floor employees for management positions, and keeps a lid on executive pay/general top level extravagance (I think I remember reading the CEO is only on 700k or thereabouts, which is crazy for a company of its size).

The founders' basic philosophy was that basic retail adds very little value to a product, so insane markups and extravagant pay aren't particularly justifiable.

this is interesting given its model is all about good management allowing small markups.

you would think market-comparable pay for management would be justified. $700k is peanuts.
