Cotch freekicks?

Some of our blocking was comical with no real conviction or timing to benefit Cotchin. You would think we would wait right when the ball is being bounced or thrown in before we hit Macaffer, not 10 seconds beforehand.

Cotch was scragged all night. Happens to the best players every week. Every week, we the supporters bitch and moan. The best players run from a to b, then from b to c, then from c all the way till z to get the ball. Cotch does that most weeks, for whatever reason (conditions being a mitigating factor), he didn't tonight.

Champion player that got beaten on the night.

Pretty hard to to this at the centre bounce, the ball ups (and there were many) & these are the times he was being blatantly held right under the noses of three umpires who chose to do nothing!
Not anywhere near the ,main reason for our loss but what McCaffer did was ridiculous!

Seems that the umpires are giving the tag germs way to much latitude

Like Cotchin last night Patrick Dangerfield has been absolutely molested by taggers if the first 3 rounds and got FA assistance from the umps

Was saying during the broadcast if my captain was being molested like that I would have lined up McCaffer and absolutely polaxed him. Cop the weeks if they come but send a message that you are not going to just watch it happen.
Dusty, Jacko, Thomas, Arnot I'm looking at you.

I do wonder however why Cotchin didn't go to a HBF .

I'd be asking why didn't he go to full forward? Maybe my memory is mistaken, but didn't Cotchin sometimes play the Brad Johnson "small full forward" role early in his career? Plonk him in the goal-square and see how MacCaffer handles the pressure then.

He got 5 freekicks, more than anyone on the ground...Macaffer has become a very reliable tagger and simply had the better of him on the night.

Count the number of non-Collingwood nd non-Richmond people who think McAffer was outside the law and you'll get some idea of whether he qualifies as a good tagger.

Can't believe Mcaffer can get in the votes from commentators for that performance. It is weak for a scragger not to play within the rules. Evenweaker by our other players not to stand up for Cotchin and deliver their own justice if the umpires will not...

No different to us giving Astbury our BOG for shutting down Cloke by doing a purely defensive job. He scragged, niggled, shoved just within the rules.

Fact is, if we had had someone do the same job on Pendlebury last night we'd be ecstatic.

AS for our players helping Cotchin - well, maybe our game plan is don't help out - win your own ball. Don't get sidetracked by other people's issues.

What a bunch of sooks you blokes are. If Jackson had done that to pendlebury you would have loved it......

There's tagging and there's blatant holding....

You may be thinking of Deledio who most certainly did

Guys did try and block a bit, but there's no point doing it well before the umpire throws or bounces the ball. Once the balls in the air, then you block or take them out. To be honest, I thought we were past this in the game what Macaffer was doing last night.

I was at the game and spent the fourth quarter watching Cotchin and Macaffer. Firstly because the game was boring by then, secondly because Cotchin is in my supercoach and I was spitting up meat pie at his performance.

Macaffer held him the entire game, the ball would be 100 meters aways and umpires not interested and he would be holding, pushing and corralling him like there was a stoppage a few feet away. When the ball was actually close he was relentless, definitely holding reguarly. Never received any help from his richmond teamates though which would disappoint you guys.

It is certainly time for taggers to get on the headlines again so the umpires will pay attention and the best midfielders can have a couple weeks off from scragging.

Hey guys thought cotch got a raw deal last night . Shuey got hammered by curren from the saints last week repeated punches to the ribs and kidneys off the ball then he gives ONE back and cops a week . Hope cotch doesn't get booked . What I don't understand is how a tagger can face away from the contest and block the player without having eyes on the ball . You can't do that if your defending a fwd it's a free everyday . Dirty taggers and tactics should be stamped out of our game

He did. And when he did, we got 2 goals kicked on us in less than a minute. He was the only one out there showing any type of heart.

Agree with main comments, umpires were weak but other players should have got in there to assist with blocks etc but mainly, we need some mongrel. We are soft. Macaffer should not have had the impact he did have.
