In the interview on Roar Vision he states being "kept on the edge" is the reason for the 2 year contract - not resting on his laurels during a long term deal.

In reality, its just smart decision making by his management, making sure he earns what he deserves to be paid at the peak of his career once this contract is up.

I think Lids is that long because he will be an unrestricted free agent when he comes out of contract, if it was short he still would be under 30 and would have been targeted

Lids is on that long because Lids wanted as long as possible and was well aware his value when negotiating was at it's highest and he was unlikely to have a career in football once he finishes playing .

Playing the devil but I think it is only 2 years because Cotchin believes he'll be playing his best football in 2 years and thus will be worth more for his big 5 year contract to finish his career. I think for a captain 2 years is poor especially at his age.... Jobe just signed for 5!

Jobe is 28 and I'm pretty sure he signed for 4 (could be wrong)
