shocking decision.

Cotchin picked the wrong week to put a bit of muscle into his game.

I really hope the clubs band together and get a supreme court order in, to overhall the current MRP, as it is worse then the old MRP.

Re: Cotchin Gets 4 Weeks or 3 With Early Plea

***** you demetriou ***** you Anderson ***** You MRP ***** you all for turning the game into the soft **** non contested, get your hands of me darling sport that its become

A sensible overhaul of way in which these ambiguous rulings are passed down should be a priority for next year as the players and fans have had a gut full

Absolute injustice - the replay shows that contact was not high, which is what they were contesting in the appeal. They lost because the North doctor said the North player had a sore jaw! But he hit the ground with his face, which explains that. Just cant understand the inconsistency and stupidity of the panel. Look at Judd, Hille etc vs Jackson, Cotchin. Furious.
Also, the Herald Sun survey was a joke only giving a certain number of players to vote for in each category, eg, the most hated player category - why wasnt the eye gouging mercenary with the fake job from the cheaters club led by sleazy and corrupt presidents included in that list.
Sorry just generally angry

Re: Cotchin Gets 4 Weeks or 3 With Early Plea

RICHMOND'S tribunal appeal blew up in its face tonight when Trent Cotchin was found guilty and handed an extra week off for a late bump on Kangaroo Sam Wright.
The Tigers unsuccessfully argued that Cotchin's bump was not high, as the match review panel ruled yesterday.

But after medical evidence was presented that Wright complained of a sore jaw when he left the field the jury threw out the appeal.

Cotchin, who could have taken a three-week ban by pleading guilty to the charging report, lost his 25 per cent discount for an early plea and was slapped with the full 425 demerit points and a four-week suspension.

The Tigers were in effect bidding to reduce the ban to two weeks, accepting that the bump was reckless conduct with high impact.

So despite the fact that the footage shows that Cotchin hit him in the back and not the head, all it took was Wright to say that his jaw was sore and the appeal was thrown out. I reckon my jaw would be sore as well if my head cannoned into the ground.

Re: Cotchin Gets 4 Weeks or 3 With Early Plea

I'ts all well and good saying "move on" etc but when Hille gets nothing and Cotchin gets 4, something is severly wrong.

Problem is we have no power. Who kicks the Anderson and his bum buddy Demetriou out when they have 'mates in the biz'?

The AFL is a joke.

I feel sorry for Cotch It is so unlike him he'd be feeling worse then Wright. Cotch had just been to the dentist so should have said his jaw was also sore His dentist would have got 3 weeks:cool:

That sucks.

It was worth the risk - one extra week.

Lets move on now.

Rubbish. History was againsed us right from the start. Not many get off or a reduction once the original penalty is handed out. It was ****ing ridiculous contesting it.

Im so pissed off at Richmond over this. Now we will play Carlton with out him

We wouldn't beat Carlton with or without him, no need to get your knickers in a knot. Footage clearly shows there was no head high contact, can't believe they took "medical advice" of him having a saw jaw over the actual footage. His hit head the ground after the hit so obviously he would have a saw jaw. We had a case so IMO it was worth the risk, this defence was much better than the Jackson one. Although off the back off this one I'd never challenge another one again.

Rest will do Cotchin good, not the end of the world.

Move on? Why put up with this shit? Every time we go up we get a shit verdict. Almost every game we get a raw deal with the umpires.

I'm sick of it.

We might as well put him in moth balls for the rest of the year then. Why bring him back just for two and deprive a kid a few games;)

So by my count this season that is 4 weeks for Cotchin plus 5 weeks for Jackson (over 2 incidents) which in total were probably about 6-7 weeks too much.....

Absolutely farcical...... It's just so blantantly wrong that there actually is no justification for it.... None whatsoever that could be deemed fair or reasonable in comparison to other decisions made this year....

Utterly laughable.....

the mrp has alot to answer for, but they wont need to cause they will get away with it and that makes the administration of the afl disgraceful. how long will clubs and the league supporters let things like this slip. i would suggest a protest with all the clubs together, near on or more than 100,000 people wanting something done about the way the afl is being administrated today. DISGRACE afl, hang your heads in shame.
