Going to throw a spanner in the works...imo DELEDIO comfortably!

Will be the best of all 3 imo once we are up and running!

Sounds strange but this is a problem for us. We have a bad habit of just throwing the ball on the boot from clearances and have it landing in the hands of an opposition player dropping back. Martin doesn't do this - but Tuck certainly does and Cotch does a bit as well. We need to stop.

We're better off trying to handball our way out of trouble (like Martin does) than turn it over and get burnt the other way.

I was watching the Eagles replay today and it stood out that because West Coast doesn't really put people behind the ball as much, we got away with it. Against most other teams, we don't.
i wouldn't see it as a huge concern, where we are at. definitely still a massive positive to be leading the league.
it shows us a number of things
1. hardwick has gotten us back to basics, and we're finally winning the hardball, getting first hands on it, and the players look hungry.
2. martin and co. are stars in the making (if not already)

we're the bottom side still....so obviously the worst team in general play. but that doesn't take away from the fact that we're beginning in the right place, and doing the right things to eventually get there.

as for the wasted kicks...it is something tuck does a lot, and cotchin as well.
but that sort of prowess in the guts will come with time...they're on the right track

Definitly agree with that spanner.

BUT, I can see all 3 of them figuring in the competitions best 15 or so come the end of each year.

How great is it that we have these youngsters.

Deledio, Cotchin, Martin, Riewoldt, Edwards, Connors, Griffiths, Post etc.

Oh wowwweee!!

Cotchin will be one of the best if not the best player in the AFL....Martin will be top 5....Lids & Jack could potentially gives us 4 players in the top 10 one day....Connors is not too far behind talent-wise...too early to judge Griff....not 100% sold on Post though he clearly has some ability (have a gut feeling he's never been that keen on being a Tiger and will leave the club in the next few years)....Edwards has been better this year than I thought he was, still don't think he's that good though and doubt he ever will be...too many deficiencies that I just can't see him overcoming...depth player at best....probably should trade while there's still a chance he has some value..

He has been our best starter in games for the last couple of months. He has a role for us in the future though. He wont ge a super star but will be very handy running in the midfield with no presure on him. And his trade value would not be huge.

Gonna throw another spanner in there.....

Foley.....is only 24, hasn't played fit for 2 years, and still plenty of development left. If we can get him back to full fitness will have his name in lights alongside Cotch, Martin, Lids and JR :thumbsu:

martin is stronger in the contest. reminds me of a young Ben cousins.
Cotchin will be as difficult to tackle as Martin, but in a different way...people forget his first year, thast ability hasn't gone anywhere, just ran into a slight delay.... give him another pre-season or two ....I suggest every who's jaws are currently being dropped by Martin , don't bother to shut your mouths yet , just dig a large hole underneath your chins instead to prepare for an even further detatchment..:thumbsu:

Cotch should be put out to pasture like all good throughabreds!!

We have Martin to keep the faith salivating.

A woould bring Cotch back when his body is right and hit the competition with a bang.

Martin could be better though.

Keeping a lid on it though as two potential players do not win a premiership nd we are all here to get a premiership team for 22 players, fans and the support teams

I'm loving the way they both attack the ball, Cotch hit the pack against Brisbane at full pace a few times and grabbed it with one touch but got tackled because he couldn't find an option, he gets to the drop of the ball or gets to the half volley better than anyone i've seen, when his body matures look out.

Dusty, well he also reads the ball well, but ATM is relying on his strength and aggression to get him out of trouble, which isn't a bad thing.

I think Cotchin has more naturally ability and cleaner hands, but Martin's pretty close to him with his clearance work.

Martin's disposal has a lot more penetration, more Buckley like, Cotchin's is more of your Robert Harvey type. I see Martin more than Cotchin as a goal kicking midfielder in the future.

Cotch has a good pair of hands on him when it comes to marking, and showed earlier this year that he can take a good grab. Martin hasn't really found a lot of space to take a leading grab, as he's normally at the drop of the ball. I've seen Martin take some marks at training and he has a natural soft handed mark, not sure of his leap though, his thighs are huge.

The thing that seperates them the most in my eyes is thier off field demeanour, Cotch is far more confident ATM in front of a camera, and looks a natural leader. However I really like the way Martin gets to the player on the bottom of the pack and helps him up and does those little things.

But why choose, we have them both:).

martin for my mind! he has assets that some of the elite mids of the past wish they could of have. he has the robert harvey hips that no one can seem to tackle him but more so a penetrating kick like buckley that harvey could only dream for.

cotchin has the poise of a judd and the gut running of harvey and once his achilles mature up will have the pace of hopefully of judd as well, potentially could be better than martin!

for me the question really is who would you take as a number 1 pick in the draft in hindsight? Scully, Trengove or Martin?

i know my choice ;)

probably still a bit early to make the call on any of the three, but i'll say this much.

i don't watch much of melbourne, but scully and trengove must be pretty good to have both gone ahead of dusty (who IMO is an absolute gun in the making), because i don't remember hearing about melbourne ever even considering him over the two that they picked.

i'll be happy to see not picking martin come back to bite them in the *ss.

There are few youngsters who come on the scene and really don't need to work on anything, that's Cotchin.

He's a beauty.
