Surely he's injured? I love the bloke and his hardness at the contest but he's nowhere near what he was last year. It's good we have a better spread of players now in terms of output but I'm waiting for him to bust a game open and break lines like I know he can but it hasn't really happened.

he most likely carrying an injury and also being heavily tagged
He was tagged last year wasn't he? If he is injured I don't see what benefit playing him against the likes of Footscray achieves.

Tagging isn't the reason. He destroyed tags last year and Deledio is getting more attention than him this year.

He's a shadow of last year and its a huge worry. Kicking is substandard, looks slow and hesitant to really attack the contest. That one handed marking attempt that cost a goal was bemusing.

He's either carrying an injury or just a mile out of form. In a way it's good that we can win now with him having little impact week to week but we need him up and going later in the year.

His attitude does not look great - maybe that's injury driven. As said, if any other player made that one-handed effort they would get the 'Piss off, and don't come back' treatment from this bopard.

He hasn't improved after the bye break, so it's not a rest thing.

I'm a bit concerned. Dare I bring up the strange 'Win one premiership and I quit' interview, to suggest he's struggling with motivation?

Wasn't that taken out of context though?

The only positive from this is we aren't relying on him to win us games. He has to be inured which is why his selection in games like last night puzzles me. Like another poster, said he barely breaks into a sprint, or those double back moves he does so well to burn off an opponent.

Think someone on here said they knew what was going on and he needed a cleanout. if thats true then send him in once tuck is fit. he's playing tucks role and with cotch's current form we lose nothing with that swap. get him back round 18-19 fit and firing

The premiership and out quote was before the year started and Cotchin in rounds 1-4 was our best player...I didn't see him sprint once last night.

IF he's injured I think the next 2 weeks is the time to rest him. I think our midfield is still good enough to beat St Kilda without Cotch.

He appears to not be hitting targets with the consistency that he used to. Injured maybe, but also dealing with a lot more attention.

The one-handed mark attempt looked a bit lazy, but it may have been a case of if he'd gone with both hands he would not have had the stretch to make it anyway.

Please Rochmond just give him a rest this week if he's 100%.
We have more than enough midfield depth to cover for him.
I don't like seeing Cotch playing like this and I'm sick of the Cotchin bashing.

The knee is causing him grief at the moment as it's not allowing him to use his best attribute when getting out of packs and around oncoming traffic i.e. the sidestep. As a result he is restricted to pretty much straight line running and when in packs it's the hack out of the pack rather than breaking clear and giving himself time to deliver. The pleasing thing is that we're still winning without him dominating, the flip side to that is that unlike previous years where we could have sent him in early for a cleanup if needed we will continue to play him. Hopefully it's nothing that is going to lead to long term problems.

Tagging with an injury can be a problem, you can clearly see they are all over him!!

Made a pretty lacklustre effort last night to attack the ball near where I was sitting. When his opponent got the kick away (due to basically not being under any pressure at all) and Trent arrived late, all he could do was give him a shove. Seemed to me the frustration had got the better of him. He then threw his hands up in despair and trailed his opponent to the next contest.

Agree with him probably carrying an injury. I also wonder if he's not dealing too well with the pressure of being a new captain and all the learning that comes with it, I wonder if he's perhaps putting far too much pressure on himself. I have no doubt he'll be an incredible leader for us, but from a distance he seems like the kind of person to want to be able to do it all, be an excellent captain in damaging form, but perhaps he's having trouble dealing with how its not really going his way at the moment? Just my humble opinion. Seems the type to want to take on too much.

Reminds me of Daniel Kerr a few years back, severely hampered by injury and it's no coincidence it all started after the Freo game when he hyperextended his knee. Not too concerned just lacking the pace to get away from the contest, still does his bit and obviously no further damage can be done.
