Essendon supporters in this post are dellusional!!!!! ..... I would be very suprised if Essendon finish higher than 12th. As already mentioned their best players are ageing, then core group of youngsters in 2006 were average and their new draftees wont have an influence for at least 2 to 3 years.
My prediction ... bootom 4.

i reckin theirs about 8 players in our whole list over 27 years old
and the younger players are capable of taking over when they retire ?
true Or Fulse ?
Only if they can win a few early games , including the pre-season...To Mentally get them in the right frame of mind of WINNING. Losing takes your second efforts, your mental thinking away..
All last year, they seemed to stop running here and there and look to the team-mate next to them when something got through..
And Lloyd can't do alll.....Sheedy has got to coach them as a well oiled machine,,,,and Not rely on Individual Performances...like the earlier successful years....He needs to have a look at Neil Craigs book of how to make No Names play or seem to play like Super-Stars....
But I hope they can...But I doubt it......I think Carlton is the One...to go up.
Im not saying essendon will be great next year we do have problems yes thats true . but saying we wont even get past 12 spot thats realy pafetic dont you think. atleast 8th spot would be reasonable for next year
I think you'll find it's 3rd Quarters we struggle with more than the 4th.

Its called a dead cat bounce. Essendon weren't as bad as they appeared last year, although they are on the way down. They'll get a few guys back from injury, add a couple through trades, get some last mileage out of Hird, Fletcher, Johnson and co, and bounce back up the ladder - maybe even getting a top-8 spot next year.
Exactly what Carlton did in 2004 - then the real collapse comes. Big hope for Essendon is that they had their first drop prior to a strong draft - if they drafted well this year they might just avoid a complete collapse. We'll have to wait and see though

Because Neil Craig has won how many flags? If Sheedy has 1 legacy it will be that he more than most others, has been able to make no names play like stars. Names like Barnard, Blumfield & Moorcroft, Hills, Grenvold & Olarenshaw, Walsh, Weston & Bradbury were all a huge part of Sheedy's success. To even hint he has relied on individuals & not team performance to achieve success shows a complete lack of knowledge on your behalf. And Lloyd can't do alll.....Sheedy has got to coach them as a well oiled machine,,,,and Not rely on Individual Performances...like the earlier successful years....He needs to have a look at Neil Craigs book of how to make No Names play or seem to play like Super-Stars....
Hopefully he can do it again with guys like Slattery, Nash & Dyson - none of them high profile picks but all an important part of our potential to improve.
Yes we COULD be big improvers but there are a lot of things that need to go right before we even consider talking about anything other than winning more games than 06. Personally I go into every season knowing full well there is a chance for every side to make the 8 given a good run with injuries & the potential of all players realised. If we can make a positive start then the confidence of the young guys will rise, the team will gel & the finals become a possibility. If not then we will look dissinterested & dissorganised at times as the young guys find their feet & lose more games than win. Its as simple as that! Confidence & momentum can take any side to the finals.
Worst midfield in recent history, Lloyd will get them to 14th
And another thing. I believe Essendon recuited poorly this year. With the exception of Gumby they have chosen players who they do not need, nor are capable of building a team around. The battle of the outside, receiving short people will be interesting at Essendon over the next 3-4 years.
Thank goodness they resigned JJ or else they might actually go through a game with donuts in the clearance count.
