No, he is still behind Ablett Jnr, Martin, Judd and Dangerfield in my opinion. The reason being is that those players were more dynamic. They also hit the scoreboard often too.

Having said that, Neale still has had an outstanding career.

I'm starting to think he's a lot closer to that group than people think. The goalkicking limitation is fair enough, but outside of that, what exactly have the last three done that he hasn't?

Best and Fairests
Ablett - 6 (2 x Geelong, 4 x Gold Coast)
Martin - 2
Judd - 5 (2 x West Coast, 3 x Carlton)
Dangerfield - 4 (1 x Adelaide, 3 x Geelong)
Neale - 4

Brownlow Medal
Ablett - 2
Martin - 1
Judd - 2
Dangerfield - 1
Neale - 2

AFL Players MVP
Ablett - 5
Martin - 1
Judd - 2
Dangerfield - 1
Neale - 1

AFL Coaches MVP
Ablett - 3
Martin - 1
Judd - 0
Dangerfield - 1
Neale - 1

Premierships
Ablett - 2
Martin - 3
Judd - 1
Dangerfield - 1
Neale - 2

Norm Smith
Ablett - 0
Martin - 3
Judd - 1
Dangerfield - 0
Neale - 0

Aside from Ablett - who to me is clearly the best player of the last 25 years, I don't think nearly as much between the rest as media perception would indicate.

bruce mcavany said it well. He's already a hall of famer, and he will probably be an AFL legend some day. He will definitely be thought of in the same line as Ablett, Dangerfield, Martin, etc.
