Cousins Hamstring!!

Once again SEN are wrong.

Before the Port game when he did his hamstring he had missed one game in his last 26. (Not including his suspension obviously)

Also wrong. He missed round 20 of 2007, but also missed rounds 14 and 15 after he pulled a hammy at training the week he was cleared to return to the Eagles.

F**k me, how stupid are the Tigers medical staff?!? Obviously, none of them watched that '07 Qualifying Final v Port where Ben CLEARLY snapped his hamstring (not sure if it's the same one) right off the bone!!!! :thumbsd:

Brad Hardy made a bloody brilliant call few months back here on Perth radio, and I hadn't noticed it until tonight
Basically he reckons Cousins needs to go to a chiropractor and get his posture corrected, otherwise he believes he'll keep pinging his hamstring over and over. Don't know the science of it, but it has something to do with the way Ben drags one foot more than the other...

and sure enough in the intensity of the real stuff...BANG! Six weeks :(

Re: Cousins' Hamstring!

Before the game, I was discussing Dream Team with a friend, and he asked me if I had Cousins in my side. I don't, but he does. For some reason during that discussion, the sentence "I wouldn't touch him - soft tissue injuries" came into my head randomly. I think that was in the back of my mind a lot of the time with Cousins when he was looking to make his comeback, and eerily happened to slip back in tonight. I never really considered him for Dream Team to be honest. I had a lot of other midfielders in mind before him I guess.

I thought he might break down at some point, but I didn't think it'd be this early. You hate to see it happen to anyone. Hopefully it's not too serious and he can get back on the park soon.

I forgot about the training incident but it does not change the fact that he did not pull his hammy 6 times in 12 games.

So missed 3 games in his last 26 due to injury before the Port Game.

He will come back this was always going to happen being out of the game fro 18 months. But last year we had similar issues with Dewie as he had been out of the game for over a year as well.

I hate Richmond & Wallet but i felt bad for their supporters last night. As you guys have been through a lot and not seen anything good happen in terms of team glory for a long time.

Keep the faith Tige supporters.

Go Hawks !!!

Anyone notice the hint of joy on the Channel 10 commentary box as he went down with his hamstring. It sounded like a kid at christmas. Its beyond embarassing that Walls and co are cheering for his downfall. Shows what pathetic excuse for human beings they really are

Richmonds medical and coaching staff have a lot to answer for.

"Hey Terry we been working on Bens hammies all 3 quarter time. They are playing up again. But he will be fine. He's only in his thirties and been out of the game for 2 years. Dont worry about his history of pinging them."

"Sure thing guys. We are only down by 10 goals. I can only see positives in putting him back out onto the track."

TWANG

"Oops"

Idiots.

Richmonds medical staff would not have sent him out if Cousins did not say "I will be OK".

But it isn't like Cousins fans to blame someone else for his problems.

Cousins Hammy maybe inevitable and a body adjustment

yes the body can work in strange ways, and needs to sometimes adjust including injury.

He might end up more balanced after this.

He looked a little unbalanced in the 3rd and 4th quater.
Maybe his hammy was adjusting to the other big hammy on the other leg in 2007.

Brad Hardy apparently noticed and commented a while back on how one leg was dragging.

Also Richmond were HYPED out by the MEDIA.

They played like preachers of future good times - that means in a stationary position. NOT GOOD for football.

Hope they snap out of the MEDIA world and play football.

Are you serious? Its the medico's job to diagnose the situation and make a decision on their expertise, not on the players willingness to go out there. If there were any doubts on Cousin's hamstring, they should have let him finish the quarter out on the bikes. The game was lost, it wasnt Cousins call to go on its the medical staffs job to make those decisions.

A bloke proclaiming an injury with 2 exclamation marks and then of all bloody things,a MODERATOR jumping up and down.

Unbelievable how Richmond turns opposition supporters into absolute morons.

Could see it coming a mile away. I laughed. Suck shit Cousins & Richmond.

Poor form? Yep. I don't care, no different to the Pratt thread.
Soft effort mate. Having a crack at a guy who is trying to make his life a cleaner place and get back to playing footy and you rejoyce in his setback.

Yea, you're right.

Cousins is a qualified Doctor, and one of the leading experts in diagnosing soft tissue injuries.

If he says he's right to go, then you let him play.

Richmond could probably save some money by employing him as their Club Doctor, and get rid of the other blokes.

Skids - I haven't bothered replying to you because the point of my post was clear, you're the only one that misread it, and I can't be bothered spending time and energy arguing with you about what I meant, when it's pretty obvious.

Bad news for Cuzzy. The guys a gun athlete but was still very underdone to come out and play as hard as he attempted to play last night.IMO he should've been eased back into matches slowly.
Bounce back soon Benny!!!
Richmond should have played Thomson last night if he was in form and fit.

Why trade pick 42 for an in and under midfielder and not play him when Coughlan is injured?

They were smashed in the middle by the Blues.

Cousins went in underdone with just six weeks of AFL training and was nowhere near match fit for the AFL.

Judd had done more training than Cousins this time last year, yet said he didn't feel right until game against the Dogs.

Cousins has guns, but leg strength is more important in today's game.

Cousins lacks condition compared to Judd who stacked on six kgs over the summer by doing leg weights.

Wallace is only thinking of himself and not the big picture.

The muppet might have finished Cousins' comeback before it even got off the ground. :thumbsd:

The ironic thing is that Wallace shouldn't have "needed" Cousins at all. He can't claim that recruiting Cousins was part of the 5 year plan, no one could have forseen that he would be available. He should have had a team 4 years along a five year plan and Cousins would have been the icing on the cake.

benny cousins will be back in a few weeks, but something tells me why did they leave him on, he was struggling slightly and richmond left him on wen the game was well over, and wanted him to have a few more touches... i believe

As soon as it happened it reminded me of something similar that happened to Geelong in 2002 I think it was. We were in the eight with a couple of rounds remaining, playing Melbourne at the MCG, and Ronnie Burns pulled up short halfway through the 1st quarter and grabbed his hamstring. Hobbled off and the trainer worked on his hamstring for ten minutes. He comes back on, and five minutes later does his hamstring properly and is out for the rest of the year. Geelong lose the game by five points, and ultimately lose their spot in the finals by season's end.

Absolutely ludicrous decision by Richmond's medical staff. It's only Round 1 FFS. Why risk a player in the first round when you're 10 goals down, especially when the player has a history of similar injuries? I'd be absolutely livid if I was a Richmond supporter. :thumbsd:
