What a pathetic state of affairs when a 28 year old grown man, needs the guidance of his parents, who are concerned with his off-field affiliations, what the hell is wrong with these Eagles players?

http://www.realfooty.theage.com.au/realfooty/articles/2007/03/14/1173722558768.html

I'll tell you

For far too long the eagles hierachy has perpetuated the behavioural standards which have landed their players in so much trouble. Why have they?

Because on field success is held in higher regard than moral integrity. West Coast are a successful club, no one is denying this, but the notion of being humble victors has roared passed faster than Cousins on a night out on the Canning

For too long Trevor " I'm a doctor, and you are depressed" has continued a performance/beavioural policy. That is, if you are performing on the field, we dont give a stuff what you do off it.

What does this do, it makes people believe in their own self indulgent legend, it facilitates a notion amongst a player group, that we are " Bulletproof"

But what happens when this myth catches up the players, and the club?

We are soon to find out, Daniel Kerr is on his last legs and mark my words, he is that dumb, and he will go to jail.

The club itself, forever proclaiming to be a flagship both on and off the field is nothing more than a cheap fishing vessel, which upon closer inspection, reveals leaks, no stability and a penchant for doing the wrong thing.

And the question I pose, if their are so many issues amongs the player group and staff members, why havent heads rolled?

West Coast are an embarrasment to the AFL, Western Australia and the sponsors and fans they represent.

So who is to blame?

Look no further than a mirror.

I agree with this. I have partied as much as anyone but the way they are doing it over the in the West is way to in your face for AFL players. I am normally way over in the camp with the party goers but even I have a bad taste in my mouth when considering the Kerr, Cousins and Fletcher incidents of late.

It makes you have a tainted image of the club and also makes you question the coach. He obviously knows that what is going on at the club is rife, not just with the illicit drugs but the association with known gangsters and the like.

Even in the darkest of my party days did I avoid the known bad guys, it's just wrong.

That's about all I have to say on the subject, but the Eagles administration let this problem get so big that there is unrepairable damage.

You have to question why?

The only logical explanation is that Worsfold was AWARE of the positive affects it was having on the players performances and believed it wouldn't become so public.

To me as a coach it is important to look after the welfare of the guys too, and if he had this view it was pretty selfish. Guys like Gardner who were the scapegoats could have easily ended up in the deepend if they failed at AFL level. And if Kerr and Cousins weren't such champions then life might be a bit different.

Even taking Worsfold's side and considering the argument that the main guys involved could handle themselves what about all the 18 year old's drafted to the club (especially from interstate) who idolised these guys and were quickly shown the dark scene and all the goings on that happens there.

For me to say this I even surprise myself, it is very wrong of the Eagles.

In a series of developments yesterday:

■Eagles chairman Dalton Gooding refused to comment on a suggestion that champion midfielder Ben Cousins had moved back home with his parents.

Lmao, i'm sorry but that's just too funny when you read it out loud:D

Oh my god - what a beat up, seriously!

It could be as simple as just having to move back for money reasons or personal reasons with the girlfriend.

The fascination continues......

Oh my god - what a beat up. Kerr got that taxi driver good!

Cousins' move could be as simple as just having to move back for money reasons or personal reasons with the girlfriend - she may be having difficulty with the fact that her boyfriend ran off on her when he feared he'd get done for drink driving.

"Where's the good stuff guys?"

The head in the sand continues......

"Im a geelong supporter who has been so starved of success that I have to bag other teams players so I feel big............... Oh, I wish we could be as good as the mighty West Coast Eagles!"
What has Geelong's success have to do with it Genius? I have no probs whatsoever with recent premiership teams such as Sydney, Port, Brisbane or Essendon.

Let me put it this way for you... should the cats indeed win a flag anytime soon, I'd be bitterly disappointed if they were emersed in the same cultural failure as what the eagles are experiencing now.

Their onfield performance is all class, sure. But as a club and a team they pale in comparison to the great successes of the past decade....

This coming from a poster who has nothing of intelligence to add to a debate, except his picture posting skills.

Keep it up champ.

You and 3Judd3 are too thick to realise that you are starting to embarrass the quality WCE fans on this site!

I guess if he is at home with mummy, he can use them to have an alibi when he is running away from the cops.

He can tell the cops he wasnt there and was home in his bedroom at mum and dad's place.
