I think it's pretty hypocritical that everyone is pointing the finger at the WCE.
This is an AFL problem and every team in the comp would be facing these issues to varying degrees.

If anyone should pull their heads out of the sand it's Anderson & Dimi.
They have been far too soft to date on the drugs issue with players and too protective of individuals rights when they should have been outed and heavily punished. Now it is coming back to bite them all on the arse big time.

Boy has this thread gone off on a tangent.

Whether it's the West Coast Eagles or the Manly Sea Eagles, the taking and supplying illegal drugs and banned substances e.g. performance enhancing drugs, in this country A CRIME and those who flaunt the law should be punished by the courts. Hope none of these guys are thinking about end of season trips to Bali or Thailand.

IMO the AFL is wimping out on this matter. So what if a player gets busted and axed, make way for someone who'd appreciate the opportunity. Footy life is not forever.

Why aren't the police busting these guys? Bet if it was a bunch of kids sitting around sniffing coke or whatever and the police raided their place they wouldn't receive the same treatment as some of these prima donnas. Just because they play sport at an elite level there is no excuse for them to be made exception to the law.

Completely agree, surely if players are tested and ellicit substances come up in their blood stream this is enough for a criminal conviction. Send a message and stop this crap.

The reason they are not busting them is because the cops and afl have NO PROOF! everything said on this site about drugs is inuendo. the criminal behavior such as dodging booze buss' and taxi tampering is fact but where is the proof of drugs. now i am not stupid dead harry can see they are on something:eek: but that won't stand up in court now will it:confused:

who was that by and where is the proof hard law enforcing proof:confused:
The fact that the players tested positive to ellicit drugs in a blood and urine sample you, it's not a hard concept to grasp.

Players from 3 clubs were named, one of which crashed his car and then moved to Warney land.

Published in the sun.

Cops have far better things to do than chase around people using recreational drugs, whether they're footballers or otherwise. I'd rather they spent their time and money finding the dealers.

Using "recreational drugs" as you so loosely put it is still against the Law. Those found using it are, and should be convicted to the letter of the law.

There is no such thing as a recreational Drug.

Yes yes yes, I know all drugs are bad, but plenty of things are against the law. Cops have discretion when to prosecute and, for the most part, go after bigger crimes like drug dealing and assault with a taxi aerial rather than people who've been smoking weed.

i believe west coast players as well as other players from other clubs are on drugs. I don't condone any of it and anyone caught should be punished to the full extent of the law. but have you ever wondered why they havn't been charged? could it be the fact the cops have no proof. You can't get arrested on a hunch.

Alot of posters on here don't seem to think you need proof or evidence to convict someone of something. Interesting concept of justice.

Perhaps the Injuction obtained by the AFL to keep the players names who had tested positive would indicate to even the smallest minded halfwit that that was proof enough. :thumbsu:

Do you also think that Dalton Goodings incredibly squirmish performance on the footy show last night suggested that there may be a deep-seeded culture of drug abuse at West Coast? :thumbsu:

The fact that they are bringing in independent bodies to curb the culture, suspensions without pay, and Goodings own admission that West Coast had a drug problem, is that enough or do you need to see the Canning highway robber do a line in front of you? :thumbsu:

Proof that they failed a drugs test, and proof that they breached the league's anti-drug codes. Not proof that they broke the law. Could be any number of reasons why there were drugs in their system. There's a much higher standard of proof for criminal offences - "beyond reasonable doubt". Breaching anti-doping policies is just about strict liability.

Didn't i read somewhere that you're a law student? If so you still have a lot to learn obviously.

Either that or he's not comfortable on camera. I haven't seen him do too many on-air appearances.

Everyone, including the club's administration, has admitted there's a problem within a small part of the playing group. The poster you were replying to was talking about proof of criminal activity. Hopefully by now you can recognise the difference.
