Re: Cousins Decision In An Hour

i reckon they will let him take the year off for rehabilitation. someone on another post made an intersting comment, not a suspension but uneligable to play for the first 11 weeks. so he can have a reasonable amount of time in rehab and also time to get back to his football. i do think if richmond pick him up he want be taken care of but i think it would be better him playing football than giving him the chance to roam the streets.

personally i want a Round 1 100,000+ game
Cuz v Judd
Kruezer v Cotchin
Gibbs v Deledio
Murph v Foley
Tambling v Walker
couglahn v stevens
tuck v scoatland

no it will be TAMBLING against the LOT, breakout year is around the corner!!!!!!! can't wait bring on 08!

Re: Cousins Decision In An Hour

fitzpatrik looking out for whats best for carlton and that is richmond to not have cuz.

Re: Cousins Decision In An Hour

Now they have to act on Pratt too. He should get way more than 12 months:)

lol. Do you actually believe what Patrick Smith writes? No one else does. A complete media beat up. Smith is a bitter Essendon supporter who has been publishing anti-Carlton fabrications for about a decade now. I read them for a laugh. Anyway, on the Cousins issue, lets just hope he gets this drug problem sorted, which is the real issue hear. I'm confident he'll get his act together. The real guilty ones here were the AFL and Weagles administrators who let Cousins play again in 2007 after some token rehab. Perhaps someone should suspend Demetriou for 12 months. :)

Re: Cousins Decision In An Hour

It's a carlton conspiracy again, they'll tank for the wooden spoon next year just so they can have judd and cousins playing for them in 2009.:D

Well if this happened Parrot, either Smith was waiting as Fitzpatrick left the building, or there are others questioning why Pratt has been given a get out of jail card!
I think he will be right until the civil suits start anyway;) Then the media attention all that will create will see his exit.

I agree the AFL needed to act much sooner with Cousins. Glad he is out myself...although it would have been an exciting 08 with him on board. Not sure he would have been able to go 12 months without missing a beat though!

And don't worry about Deme, the footy gods will make sure he gets whats coming to him.

Re: Cousins out for 12 months thorts??

bull sh it

Re: Cousins out for 12 months thorts??

shattered, #1 fan of the cuz
i cant wait a year for him to play again
now we are going to pick up a usual Ben Marsh/Trent Knobel/Kent Kingsley type player ....

Guy 'Unc' Richards
no that really is the icing on the cake for 07

Re: Cousins out for 12 months thorts??

No loss he's too old anyway,a footballer these days has a shelf life of about 10 years. He's done his dash and he should retire.

Re: Cousins Decision In An Hour

Good work by the AFL to re-write their drug policy in a 7 hour meeting. Apparently now if you have a drug addiction, you get a one year suspension. What else has Cousins done wrong? It no longer matters if you're on 1 strike, 2 strikes or 3 strikes. I think there would be one other Melbourne club in particular who would be a bit worried about those new rules..

Re: Cousins Decision In An Hour

The man has not been charged or found guilty of any involvement in drugs. In fact he showed admirable honesty in verifying his addiction without being compelled to do so by the law. The use of recreational non-performance enhancing substances is no business of the AFL. Get your QC motoring Benny and sue their a*rse off.

I guess there'll always be a grey-zone as to what constitutes an "addiction". The Cousin's case was pretty clear cut though. The primary focus should be on supporting the player. I think a 3 strikes and your suspended for 12 month rule is the way to go. This will allow the player to get some proper rehab. :)

Re: Cousins Decision In An Hour

Yes and the point is that Cousins apparently hasn't had a single strike, so why was he suspended? There has been some bad press but its mainly tabloid rubbish (Cuzz and Cameron Diaz??) and he's hardly to blame for that. How can they suspend a guy with a drug problem but who's never failed a drug test and then put their heads in the sand when a club president rips $700m off the Australian Business community and gets fined $40m!!??

That said, it's probably a blessing that he didn't wind up at Tigerland given his age and, failed drug test or not, he obviously has cultural issues.

How much fun is it to see the Carlton supporters second guessing themselves on their board about drafting Josh Fraser Mk II ahead of Cotchin? The big Kreuzer is so much like Fraser, he should be worried about his hairline!

The Tiges would choose Kruezer in a heart beat if you had the chance. :)

Re: Cousins Decision In An Hour

You're a complete waste of space and a Carlton fan...sorry to repeat myself.:)

Seriously when are our mods going to red card this smug deluded trolling asshat once and for all?

Re: Cousins and Richmond

Or you give Miller all your chips to place a bet on your behalf and you lose the lot.

Huh?

I've been critical of some of Miller's drafting/trading at times (chasing Solomon particularly), but unlike many, I've also acknowledged his numerous successes.

It's called having a balanced view.

Re: Cousins and Richmond

I think you are giving the man a little too much credit, Rayzor

Do you really think that if he stated that the only hurdle left to clear in getting Cousins IF the AFL hadn't banned him was the players' views, he hadn't already cleared it with the board, the CEO, the coaching staff and the sponsors?

That's what I read.

When he breaks a big footy rule.

He is welcome here but will know when he oversteps the line.

I have thought he has an over inflated opinion of his team for years but that is no reason to hand out a red card.
