Not even touching that

As long as if worst comes to worst and Sydney does need a lockdown she can swallow her pride to not risk the rest of the country.

Also the media if the contact tracers in Vic made a mistake , but it's not an issue if it happens in Sydney . We should of all had a chance to be vaccinatedbefore winter , but no. This is not a battle state v state and ALL Australia should work together to get rid of the Chinese and Indian strains , what's the name Delta !

Unity in the populace is just about the one thing that governments around the world do not want and will actively sabotage.

The current strain has shorter incubation and the NSW govt has contact traced so that virtually all bar one person is linked. What that means in practical terms is that this Sydney situation will be a short lived outbreak. Math tells you it will.

The problem with the vaccine rollout is that a large number of the population who have been forced to accept the AZ vaccine have rejected it like me. I just find it slightly offensive that vaccines exist which have zero mortality risk yet the elderly are being forced to accept a mortality risk. I happen to think that something designed to save your life shouldn't risk it instead when there are viable alternatives. I canceled my appointment and will wait until choice is offered and the elderly can get a vaccine with nil mortality risk like the rest of the community. Pathetic that once again the elderly are being discriminated against like this. Throw in the fact that the AZ vaccine has only 10% effectiveness against the SA variant and it's effectiveness at outset was just over 60% then it's clearly a lemon.

I've had the AZ and there is nothing wrong with it , you have more chance of being struck by lightning or eaten by a shark

Am still pissed off some goose allowed a non-vaccinated driver to waltz around Sydney transporting people. But in addition, surely this guy new damned well he shouldn't be doing what he was doing.:madv1:

Me: Goes to dr, work from home
Covid person: 3 Bunnings, 10 restaurants, 5 coffee shops, 4 Westfields

An undiagnosed sympt of COVID is the sudden desire to be social and go places

It really seems like that sometimes doesn't it. The reality is the more you're out and about your chances of catching it increase exponentially and people are just so used to travelling all over.

Twice now that this scenario has caused outbreak.

Meanwhile after 6-7 months of vaccination and coming into Summer, America is down to a about 10k cases a day. They were hitting 250-300k around election/Christmas.

Unbelievable that the vaccines are this good, just wish I didnt have to ask Santa for mine.

Problem with the vaccine roll out is a lot of people aren’t interested in getting it. Why bother getting vaccinated if you still end up in pointless lock downs or can’t cross state borders?

Federal and State politicians have to make vaccination more attractive and convince the public to get the jab.

I'm in my sixties and refused to get the AZ vaccine. I would get the P or M vaccine tomorrow if it were made a available to me. It's not. I just refuse to take a vaccine that may kill me howsoever small that risk may be. I'm going to go to Dr and see if I can get a letter saying I need the P vaccine then present that at vaccine centre forcing them to give me the alternative. Happy to pay whatever it costs to have the vaccine of my choice too.If the figures are correct that 66% of aged care workers aren't vaccinated that is an utter disgrace. It's not rocket science that that occurrence needed to be mandatory. Get the vaccine or lose your job. Simple. Didn't happen. Disgraceful both from govt and from the workers who seemingly don't care about residents enough to get vaccinated. Make an announcement that these workers have 1 week to get the vaccine or will no longer meet preconditions for employment in that industry. there are several other industries that require that treatment too.

With all due respect, I presume you don’t drive? Because the likelihood of you being in an accident and being seriously injured or killed is much higher. I also presume you don’t drink because the likelihood of you being involved in an event that seriously injured you after drinking alcohol is higher. I also presume you don’t take a dip at the beach because the chance of being harmed by a marine animal is much higher. In reality, staying at home and cooking or heating with gas leaves you with a higher chance of death by carbon monoxide poisoning than death by AZ blood clots.

Bet he doesn't take out any type of Home, Motor, or Health Insurance, because why insure something that covers him for a risk event when he can just refuse risks altogether. Just think of the savings.

The anti vaccers are a threat to all of our safety .

Why only 70%? Your attitude is not to allow anyone in the country and to go into lockdown for a handful of cases. That’s the attitude that will see us never get on with life.

Darwin has just gone into a 48-hour hard lockdown over 4 cases. At the end of the day because of the slow rate of vaccination in this country so far, lockdowns will continue to take place when cases of concern pop up until a large percentage of the adult population is fully vaccinated.

Even NSW Chief Health Officer Dr Chant is on record as saying that until 80% of the adult population in NSW is fully vaccinated, lockdowns will still be used as and when required.

"I went out on a limb some weeks ago and said once we have 10 million jabs in NSW, 80 per cent of our adult population we can start having those conversations. I said that quite a number of weeks ago. We are at the 2 million jabs.

"We can start having that conversation at 10 million jabs. We also have to remember, under those circumstances, if you're not vaccinated and the rest of the people vaccinated are moving around freely, you will obviously be in danger of getting the virus and subjected to the consequences."

So if this is the thinking of the NSW CHO, 70% might not be enough to remove lockdowns as a tool.

Yes I'm totally aware of the relative risk and it's a risk I'm NOT prepared to take when there are vaccines without that risk. About 1 in 80000 to be precise. Simple really. Why should I be compelled to risk at all as a discriminatory measure toward elderly? Is pathetic a choice is not given.

I'm hardly anti vaccine. Will take P or M when they are offered to elderly as they should be already. I fully endorse all elderly who likewise refuse the AZ vaccine whilst it has ANY mortality risk even as small as it is waiting for the govt to realise they should shelve AZ and make the more effective vaccines available across the board.
