Hey look I’ve had many covid fights

BUT we have a shitload on here locked down

And not to try and pick where threads go , how about we keep this as footy and a nice distraction for those doing it tough

Sorry guys but I agree with Lazy, we gotta learn to live with this.
And I'm a fully vaccinated, middle aged, mother and grandmother.

But this is not the thread.
This is definitely not the thread so I will just say this (since it was brought up) - lockdowns can't go on forever agreed but we need more people to be vaccinated before we ease restrictions. The hospitals can't cope if we have 1000s of cases (I'm from Sydney - my friend is a nurse and it is bad as it is). We can only live with this when more people are vaccinated.

That's all I will say.

A million percent agree. The one good thing to come from this latest fiasco is it's pushing the masses into vaccination, the only way forward.

To be fair the truck drivers stopped at minimal places and were wearing PPE. Maybe if Western Australian’s bothered to get vaccinated it would stop the hysteria.

Maybe if there was shots to be had.

PM Happy Clapper and Premier Sadarse Binchicken are both blots.

Clapper has failed to control the borders, acquire vaccines and is presiding over the spread of CV in Aged Care and Aboriginal communities. Am sure the speaking in tongues with Houston inc offers him consolation.

Binchicken has the stink of Florida about her. She is one step away from throwing her hands up and welcoming everyone to her toxic picnic.

The vaxx target must be 100% and it should be compulsory, with regular boosters.

Masks and social distancing will still be required.

So he’s got 6.6 million people in Victoria

18% is children under 12 which brings it down to 5.4 million people in Victoria

80% of 5.4million is 4.3million people he wants to be vaccinated

He has 2.3million people vaccinated right now

So he wants 2 million more people vaccinated to reach 80%

He’s averaging out 30k per day currently

So 2million / by 30k

67 days left in lockdown

(If they continue at 30k per day getting the vaccination)

Has a countdown of how many days until the vax % targets based on a 7 day rolling average. Homepage is the country. Click a state to find their own personal countdown

I get confused with the numbers given as the 30k per day is the ones in state run facilities only I believe. So anyone getting the vaccine at a GP or other private health clinic are not counted in the figures released daily. Could be wrong.

Correct. For eg total today, 29th of august, 85k. the whole week has averaged at around 66k per day.

I agree that Gladys screwed us all, but it is what it is. Covid is now well entrenched and there's no longer any hope of ever eliminating it, so we might as well get vaccinated and learn to live with it. I don't think these harsh lockdowns and severe restrictions are the way to go anymore.

I'm just tired of this endless greater Sydney lockdown. It's no way to live. It's been going for too long with seemingly minimal effect on the outbreak. At this point, I'm more worried about people's mental health than I am about covid.

largely agree with you, particularly on the vaccination push and sooner rather than later getting on with moving on and living with this bstard virus
but the mental health thing, which has (rightly) now become a very major issue ...
the fckng bitter irony and hypocrisy of right-wing govts now waving the flag for mental health is contemptible ... they've never cared for the mental health of all the people their neo-liberal policies have been putting out of work for generations, nor the vulnerable school kids their elitist education policies have deprived of resources, nor the public health systems they've gutted, nor those in the outer suburbs of major cities who have to rely on shambolic public transport to get to work ... public health, transport, education (jeff kennett and his schools policies in the 90s in victoria, and that scumbag then heads up beyondblue, fck me!) ... these scrotes want to privatise them all ... where will that leave their cynical championing of mental health sufferers!?!
and then of course there's the housing industry ... the biggest contributer to the widening of the gap between the haves and have nots
the right has never given a toss about mental health and the vulnerable ... until it became a political expedience ...
