Trying to think of positives, at least the grounds turf will have a nice holiday...#reaching

Here's a few question:
1) if there's no season across all grades how will the draft be assessed by recruiting team and who is at a disadvantag?

2) If there is no season will those with contracts due to expire still be cut? Or is this year a line through it in all aspects from club?

I suffer a little with OCD. Where there is a problem that needs resolution I spend inordinate amount of time to resolve a solution. It’s a blessing and a burden.

More power to you mate. Not meaning to trivialise your OCD in any way but there's no better situation to have it in than during this pandemic!

they tried to squeeve more money into the economy by not banning italy and tried to get the Grand Prix over the line/ they just allowed more infections instead. hindsight is wonderful but they had Italy as a mirror. weak leadership is exposed again. they still wanted to get the Grand Prix going today. dumb and dumber. even after the WHO declared a Pandemic.
AND... the ban not taking effect till the Hillsong conference this weekend is over.

Exactly its unavoidable

This mentality can be dangerous though, particularly if one continues to go out in public places and come in contact with a potentially-vulnerable person, just because they're "gonna get it anyway."

The point is that even those who think they'd be fine and are likely to get it still need to do everything they can to avoid getting it. Only way the hospitals will cope with the impending onslaught is if we can keep the number of cases as low as possible.

Not saying this is your mentality, I've just read things from others on the net saying they've accepted they'll get it and plan to live their life as normal, ie mums having play-dates, dads taking their kids to local soccer games and distant relatives of mine persisting with overseas travel plans.

Here's another...

If there is no season will I get my reserved seating refunded??

Good question I’ll be asking for a refund of games missed if they play under a lockout.

Why?

And understand this is not a dig at you or anyone else that is contemplating the situation of not benefitting from that for which you have paid.

It's just a discussion point.

The running costs for a club are fixed. They rely almost entirely on the sale of memberships and the paid for ancillary things that go with that. If all of those revenue sources dry up, how are they to meet their costs?

And I know the answer, the AFL is flush and can manage it for a year, so it's more a question for across the board, especially at a local level. Will local football clubs, if the season is cancelled, survive?

I'm sure it will be offered... you'd have to think that they're insured against this sort of thing...

Why? Very simple failure to offer the product for which you paid. Grand Prix are looking at refunds. Artists who pull out of concerts have to refund ticket sales. Unfortunately it’s the economic cost of the situation.

If no compensation then maybe some won’t bother with a season ticket going forward. The economic cost will be far reaching.

I'm not talking about the cost of membership, I'm talking about the additional cost on top of that for reserved seating that goes to the SCG, which would be insured against events that mean that they can't open their gates...

I have no issue paying for the membership... but I pay $600 plus per year... if the season is cancelled, or I can't go and watch it live, I want a good portion of that back please!

Just like as has happened with the English football, it will only take one player or coach to catch the virus for that club to go into isolation and then the whole league will be postponed for a period of time. It’s almost inevitable.
Spot on then the opposition won’t won’t to play them , then the cancel

Surprised they are going ahead

I think that Ticky009 had the right idea... I think for a lot of the insurance policies (for the relevant clubs, grounds & associated services), it's likely that season had to commence for the insurance to kick in!

they might not, probably hoping it wont get worse i guess

ideally you want to keep things going i guess

Good to see south Korea and China are now reporting fewer new cases, in fact China's new cases are in single digits.

Goes to show isolation/quarantine is working, hopefully Australia has acted quickly enough to prevent a situation we are seeing in Europe.
We should be locking down much harder, if only to stop to complete idiots who are panic buying. I'm embarrassed just watching them
