They are but why take an unnecessary risk? Just get to the end of Winter then reassess
to stop depression, suicide, people not getting operations, people losing jobs/homes
should i go on?
Majority of cases impacts a demographic that are mildly impacted by the virus. Look at our recovery rates. People being unemployed not able to support their families leading to other social issues. That is a genuine risk. They are but why take an unnecessary risk? Just get to the end of Winter then reassess

As I said SMALL things can go back, that may be gyms or cafe's. Just don't relax all of them. Get to the end of Winter that is the main thing.

School and work need to resume. Keep the social distancing in place but if we maintain isolation as we are now for another four months it will create other issues with far more impact than a bad flu.
whys winter a cut off? get to wherever the hopsitals can cope and start to revert back
I finally found some flour at Costco so I can start baking again. Prior to all this baking was a great cheap hobby, now it's just painful to find any sort of flourPasta back in my pantry. Lockdown can carry on as far as I’m concerned
They estimate unemployment will hit 10%; personally after having my promotion taken away and a paycut given the company has now given everyone a reduction in hours - meaning we've all copped another 20% paycut!to stop depression, suicide, people not getting operations, people losing jobs/homes

Whatever happens I hope we do it right, I don't want the country to need to go through a second 'lockdown' due to a second surge in cases. If the difference is hold the lockdown for 2-4 more weeks vs a second lockdown wave I'll take the first option anyday
Nothing that a good dose of Corona virus to a loved one won't fix.to stop depression, suicide, people not getting operations, people losing jobs/homes

Italian flour our specialty!I finally found some flour at Costco so I can start baking again. Prior to all this baking was a great cheap hobby, now it's just painful to find any sort of flour

Example? A young mate on chemo who has been battling illness for a year.
Yeah this could go on for a while.
What’s your point?
Should we hang inside and wait out all disease?
People die all the time and no one blinks an eyelid
There is a line though. Think of your grandparents. Do you want them being sick with this virus? We are all in this together there will be a time to relax restrictions but it’s not for a few months
there is a line but saying its the end of winter is just stupid, it might end up that by coincidence but thats it
silly me im thinking of children missing education and then paying for this mess, if my grandparents in their 80s who are sick drop off a bit early such as life, seems more selfish worrying about that to me than the future generations
I’m happy enough to wait till the end of Winter as I’d rather be realistic even then I personally think it’s optimistic.
I care for the elderly and I doubt they’d want to get the virus. Education is great...teachers form the vulnerable too they are hardly spring chickens usually
you might be happy too, others arent though.. thats all im saying
i didnt say the elderly want the virus, who does, i just wouldnt be shutting down society for them, they can be sheltered away longer if needed
teachers or anyone who feels at extra risk can shut themselves away too, people say its health first, then fine put your health first, quit work etc
Schools in general can be taught online anyway. If it’s the education you are worried about all of it in general bar practical exams in yr12 is able to be taught online.
I’ve always budgeted for these times. It’s not ideal but I have always saved money well. I love a punt and a beer but every week I’ve saved 35% of my money and of which 15% has gone into an account for these times. People that are the most nervous are ones that don’t save- I’m not sure how many times at school you were told to save money when you can
You keep talking about what you are happy to do and what you are prepared for
that’s fantastic
I was talking about the community more so than just you or I
most people are f’ed without aweekly income, most schools cant just switch to online
It's not up to the government to bail everyone out because the are spending more than is coming in. It's not rocket science there, and that's not just me or you. Don't buy properties and or cars that are not in line with your income. By all means have hobbies, but have a means to repay them.
Schools can go online, and the school holidays now are handy as this can be done by the start of next term.
As the PM said, this is a 6 month minimum process, and you have to be prepared for that. There are payments from the government to help people in need anyway, and this is a good thing.
people didnt all budget for a pandemic that locked business down i guess
we all have to pay that government assistance back
I’ll assume you don’t have children in school when you say a child’s education can be taught online. As soon as a student has a question the teacher isn’t there to answer online. It’s the poor parent who is also trying to work from home whom is left homeschooling.
Teachers are getting away with a less onerous role at the moment. Put the course up for the week and no interaction there after. Maybe it will improve with term 2.
This all based on my experience with homeschooling my kids for the last few weeks of term one. The hubris amongst those who think that this can go on for another term while the country records a 100 cases a day.
I’m glad you saved for a once in a 100 year pandemic....
