The same cricketers that Spend weeks on end away from families all the time? They had the WC and then the Ashes last year.

If they don’t want to play that’s 100% fine but they shouldn’t get paid. It’s up to them. Bet they will want the income though. At the moment of course they are happy getting paid to sit at home and play XBOX and make TikTok’s. This is all at a stage where plenty of Australia are unemployed and aren’t making a single cent.

They will be able to bring family members anyway to the hubs more than likely if they wish.

Oh you've seen the AFL's reports that say families will be allowed, that's a relief.

You also missed my point about how irregardless of whether other athletes travel without their families all the time, they are not being asked to do it during a pandemic and a shutdown. Yet you have the gall to label the AFL players entitled for being uneasy about it.

Matter of the fact is most sportsmen are hypocritical they used to complain about the tough cricket schedules then put their name down to play a IPL season.

Trust me no play = no play will make them change their mind very quickly.

Exactly. They have the choice and it’s up to them whether they want to get paid

Or maybe he is one of those prioritising lives over livelihoods.

Even if you don't agree with it to say it's nauseating is dumb. I know it wasn't you but if someone is on the radio saying something you don't agree with, it's not hard to not listen to it.

Couldn’t agree with that more

If Australia had no new cases of COVID for 2 weeks would we need an AFL hub? We're almost down to single digit new cases with talk of travel restrictions being lifted, is a hub becoming a necessity?

Yep

surely we can get a bloody exemption for afl as necessary travel worse case given where we are at

20 weeks is of the most extreme scenario it wont even be that, the world needs to restart they are a LOT of ppl who for some reason would be happy for the lockouts to continue indefinitely.

Australia had over 300k hit by the worst influenza years in 2019 we also lost 910 Australians over 10x the casualties of covid-19 yet everything resumed as nothing had happened.
The motives for those who don’t want the lockouts to cease could be as simple as they don’t want to go back to work because life is easier at home. Teachers are at the forefront of this.

Anyway I’ll continue homeschooling my children and trying to do my own job at the same time while teachers stay safe.

My sister in law is a teacher and she would prefer to go back. But as she said to me plenty of her colleagues are enjoying the relaxed workplace of home .

I think the only way we can have a season this year is an exemption.Players have a tough decision to make if hubs are coming in and if they do not play this season they will be on heavily reduced contracts next season and some might not even have a club to go back to.

I don’t know do you think it’s posdible that the reason is because it kills people. Just guessing of course but it’s possible

And for a little perspective one infected person working at that age care facility has caused 12 deaths and about 30 more infected. In the space of a week. Through skill avd good management we happen to be one of the only countries to control this beast. You think that control is a certainty? I don’t. We slip up one inch and we’ll be just like the rest of the world. In a matter of a few weeks. To some here that doesn’t seem to be too much of a concern and that is disturbing tbh

Old people should be expendable if it means we get to go to the footy

And another scary fact just emerging is that kids are presenting with Kawasaki disease blood vessel inflammation toxic shock syndrome and heart disease inflammation and oh yeah weird bruising on toes and fingers. The same kids we are told are safe to it and at zero risk. There is a real possibility too that lung and heart disease may be permanent repercussions for those infected and recovered.

In Australian children there hasn’t been.

Of course not but medicine records knowledge over vast majority of illness. We know what to expect. Here we have no clue

well we know we cant continue the way we are for longer than 6 months ,
