If you dare analyse the data you can find some fascinating outcomes. It intrigued me that UAE had only 342 deaths on over 57k cases. That is statistically anomalous so I dig into it more.

Apparently UAE treatment intitially involved convalescent plasma which has had success. More recently they have pioneered an approach using stem cells extracted, characterised then sprayed into lungs as vapour that alleviates lung damage and cools overactive immune response. They report 100% success

So all the people in power both in government and epidemiologists in health governance are just fabricating stuff on the basis of hysteria......because you know better. Have you gone off your meds?

Sorry Puke but your last sentence is out of order, your insinuating someone has mental illness and hasnt taken their medication, just because you don't agree with their post.

Weeks ago you were calling people out about making fun of cross dressers because of your direct experience, now you post this.

Yes because that is what I said.

No sh*t? Speed kills hey? Who’d’a thunk it?

Doesn’t mean the government is happy to impose unsafe speed limits because they anticipate only x amount of fatalities due to said speed limit.
So you got nothing.

And did not read what I said.

Or did not understand it.

Whatever.

This is boring me.

Are you actually disputing that more people die in 110km/h zones than in 20km/h zones?

There is plenty of evidence on that, I'd prefer if we can make a sizeable bet first

Am I actually disputing that fact?
Or are you just twisting it around to justify your claim that governments knowingly put people’s lives at risk with unsafe speed limits?

I’m less than impressed with the treatment I’ve been accorded on this thread where I was habitually baited and ridiculed by about 6 posters for a few weeks because I HAD a different opinion and nothing more. Where was your indignation then? You now want to claim offence at my remarks? Too late.

Assume anything you want.

Thanks for dropping by and educating us gullible types that believe governments set speed limits based on everybody competently doing the right thing not by deciding how many fatalities is acceptable

Getting a bid sidetracked here, but
if lockdown, social distancing etc is all about saving lives why do governments keep cigarettes legal? 15000 people died of smoking related illness last year not to mention the non fatal illness and the burden on the health system.

Just not sure why, something that has zero health benefits and massive health consequences is legal.

I know tax revenue would be high, but surely in the long run that would even up with less cost to the public health system.

Look at how hard it is to get rid of guns. People have to lose their jobs(the politicians will have to sacrifice their jobs as well) and you have to fight against cigarette companies themselves.

The fact of the matter is that there's no good reason. We're, and everyone around us is also, human. For every stand we make the social implications and small and the personal sacrifices are large. Makes it hard to do anything good...

You could argue the same about alcohol. However, I personally see so many benefits from alcohol that I’m willing to take the risk.

I'll add my little bit.

The problem & fear as I see it is the strain put on a health system.
My daughter is a student nurse & was doing her 4 week placement in the cardiac ward. We learned first hand that as soon as a patient tested positive to this virus (remembering she was in for a heart complaint), it wiped out all workers that had contact with her that day, about 6-8 in total over two shifts, both nurses & doctors, unable to work for 14 days.
Now this is only one person that caused this mayhem.

Now as a business person running my own business, it is disastrous closing the whole economy down just because of this. It needs to be first brought to a level that can be controlled & then targeted but most importantly, to a level that our health system/hospitals can cope with.
Now at these levels we have today, things are relatively in control but if health care workers keep getting knocked out, we are going to have a big problem.

So this is where using car accidents & speed limits isn't comparable because once the health system fails to keep up with cases, people that under normal circumstances would survive such a virus, they suddenly don't get the urgent attention they need when there is a strain in doctors, nurses, etc.
Right now though it isn't an issue but it can become one very quickly with any complacency that is creeps in.

A real tough one here folks but I don't like the car accident comparison. Say there is a car accident involving 4 people, upon their admission to any hospital, there isn't a threat to health care workers that need to work on them or with them. Once done with the 4, they can continue to the next patients that need attention.

Not trying to argue with anyone but this virus is another level if we lose control.

I'm tired of the arguing

I'm just tired of everyone

I just want this gone or under control, which we know can be done

Too many are just fine with pretending

Thank **** the mask laws are without contention so far, Australia's belligerence is already too close to US levels without that shitshow added to it.

if you think this is bad, wait until you find out about global warming.

Yes I am aware of every form of whataboutism regarding Covid

It's the go-to argument

I'm sorry you feel like you have been treated unfairly Puke. For the record, I don't think you have, I think you had an unpopular opinion and posters reacted to that opinion... I can't recall any particular PM's or reports where action was required &/or rules were broken - But none-the-less, I hope you are able to reflect and realise it is more-than-likely more-so a mash up of differing opinions as opposed to personal attacks. It also goes both ways a lot of the time (a fact that many, including myself, sometimes find hard to spot initially).

The real reason for my reply to this post however is to provide this friendly reminder to everyone...

I want everyone on here to remember that respect should be the first basis by which we all interact. Do not play the man. No opinion is "wrong". You can disagree with it, but an opinion is never wrong. We all have different views and opinions and we are all entitled to express our opinions on here without feeling attacked or threatened.

If you feel like a poster has crossed a line or is attacking you, rather than engaging and interacting further, report the post or grab a mods attention. We are here to (hopefully) help & prevent melts, baiting, flaming etc.

A NSW Supreme Court judge was initially expected to rule 2pm today on an application by the Police Commissioner for a prohibition order over a Black Lives Matter protest planned in Sydney on Tuesday .

The court has heard Police Commissioner Mick Fuller told media outlets 2GB and Sky News on Monday that police would go to court to seek the prohibition order, which would not ban the march outright but would leave participants exposed to potential criminal sanctions for participating.

This is an incredibly slippery slope.

Protest against police burtality to blacks, police try to stop protest.

I do not envy anyone in this situation.

That being said, I don't see how you can protest anything given the health risks. Maybe I am just too selfish in not wanting my family sick

Police state is not very far away if that happens.

So what’s your point?
Fuller undermined the legal process by spreading his “very good intelligence” lies on those fountains of fact 2GB and Sky News... then claimed it was an underling that made the decision to take it to the courts and that he was unaware... straight from the Donald Trump book of denialism!
So now, said media outlets set about swaying public opinion to sanctify the use of strong arm tactics by law enforcement against law abiding citizens... thankfully anybody with half a brain formulate their opinion without the input of Dean, Bolt and co.

you already have restrictions on movement, some forced to wear masks

stopping a stupid pointless protest from a bunch of morons is the least of our concerns

So let me get this right... back in the early days of lockdown you praised those protesting the lockdowns, the life threatening 5G network and enlightening the masses with their conspiracy theories, all because, unlike the majority of Australians who were content to be sheep and stay home and stay safe, they weren’t rolling over to the police state and stood fighting for their civil liberties.
Now, our indigenous people and their supporters demonstrate those same qualities... you know ... not rolling over, civil liberties etc etc... and you declare the protestors are morons and their issue is stupid and pointless?
Hmmm... now knowing you would never hold any racist views, despite your unwillingness to condemn the great Sam Newman, I’m just trying to understand the polarity of your views toward the two protest groups?
just doesn’t seem to add up... I mean you’ve said that you are fearlessly prepared for the consequences should you personally have a brush with Covid, that we need to back to normality and that it’s no biggy to sacrifice the vulnerable because the future you have planned for everybody is a bed of roses... yet one protest is cool and one isn’t?
