I don’t think it’s that’s bad , bad enough to stop the whole world , it’s unfortunate and it’s horrid but some of the reporting and classification of it is ridiculous

Pushing people indoors again and again is not dealing with anything , how about we stop testing everyone and focus on treating sick people

There are people dying from all sorts of issues

Where you say you have accepted Not dating not shaking hands etc for years , that’s so sad , I admire your attitude in a sense , just wanting what’s right but fu** me at some point we may as well just go catch it and drop dead if living is just sitting and existing

I’m tired of the scaremongering and the blame all the selfish people and all that bullshit

You shouldn’t be confined to your house, if you choose to do it so be it

Governments started this as your graph said to spread the damage and flatten the curve what are doing now? And why is he threatening to extend the lockdown, why is he trying to change the law so he can extend lockdown

Why have a law if your just change it when it applies

Anyway stay sane you are a good person (well seem
To be on here)

Just remember from a government POV the dangerous part of the virus is not as much tge lethality but the contagiousness and hospitalisation rate.

In Melbourne I think we are around 8%-10% hospitilisation. It sounds like if you need to go to hospital with this you could be in there for weeks before youre okay to leave. So if we have 700< cases a day thats 70 people a day going to hospital for weeks.

All of a sudden our ability to help all other sick people or accidents/incidents that put people in hospital is drastically reduced. If COVID isnt controlled it theoretically means every other sickness could increase in lethality as it is harder to get the treatment you need.

We saw in Italy in March that they had people getting treated or dying in the hallways of hospitals because there was no room in the wards. I think in Houston a few weeks ago they just flat out said all of their hospitals are full.

Unless I read Olian 's post wrong, isn't that a good thing? And the flu and COVID are both coronaviruses so obviously what helps stop one stops the other?
Yes but the cost.

Now do road deaths.

I can make the death toll on roads nil tomorrow.

No one will ever be allowed drive a vehicle again but what price lives right?

Go research suicide rates now. Also did you know 25% of all black small business in America has quit. Not shuttered - they have stopped forever.

Trust me, I am well aware of the mental health battles this is causing

Pretty sure we went over that before and you bailed out because the theory was totally debunked and you got bored yeah?

No Houston was absolute fake news. Not even stretched.

It was 2 weeks to flatten the curve to build up supplies etc.

It is now 6 months of draconian government control, economic ruin, racist BLM protests and no end is sight.

It is a disgrace.

New York after the serial killer Cuomo got going spent over 50 million on a special purpose hospital that treated roughly 80 patients and if they were a country they would have the worse death rate and deaths per head of capita than anywhere.

How about these factual stats... 22.5m cases and 790000 deaths? I’m no mathematical genius but I think that works out to roughly 3.5% yeah?
Do you know what IFR means?

MOD WARNING #37458753

This is not directed to specific posters, no sides, no right/wrong or positive/negative... To EVERYONE in this thread.

Show other posters (& their right to their own opinions) respect. Failure to "play nice" (direct or subtle) will result in thread-bans & other infractions.

If you find you have a problem with the way a poster is stating their case, by all means engage in a respectful debate. I'd recommend a friendly PM to discuss & hopefully resolve any conflict off the public forum. The alternate option is to utilise the ignore feature available to you.

If you feel a post or poster crosses the line in terms of BF rules then please use the report function.

The worst outcome on here is engaging in a back & forth of name calling & criticism of the poster (not their opinion). Be it direct or subtle.

Disrespect & continued immature engagement will begin to be dealt with more harshly from this warning onwards.

Play nice kids.

You have all now been warned.

Thanks - GTG & The mod team.

As I said. Not directed at any one person in particular.

Time to move on now. This is for COVID chat not a critique of other posters.

A kid in my sons class was sent home today for coughing. The mother messages a number of people to say her child hasn’t coughed at home, has no temperature and no runny nose. In fact no symptoms that she could compare to the advice. However her child has to get a COVID test to be allowed back to school.

Complete farce and there was one new case in the state.

Abundant caution in accord with health regulations. Not sure what the farce is.

There apparently is a distinctive sequence of symptoms the first one always being fever. So the school needs to be educated to these things to ensure proper protocols.

Hey has anyone listened to the social distancing song by Steve Stewart? Absolutely hilarious.

I just hope for some common ground and understanding between people to be found in this once in a lifetime event. there is really no definitive right answer. Its all improvised chaos.

Having two opposing camps at each other or weaponising everything for various political points is not the way to go about this imo. Just creates more problems and we have enough as it is.

This thread is ultimately worthless. 'Pro health' people are agreeing with each other and 'pro economy' are agreeing with each other and there is little middle ground to be found.

The amount of hypocrisy when discussing how much of a advantage it would be to QLD/WA teams where the GF will be played is truly one for the ages.
Play it in Perth if there is no WA team, Gabba if no QLD team then SA if it is WCE vs Brisbane

Thanks for the kind words mate. I’m pretty upset about what’s gone on. And I don’t know there is an answer. As the song goes ‘something is gained and something is lost living everyday’. A fair bit has been lost on this thread.

Imagine if St Kilda finishes below West Coast on percentage only and GWS scrapes into eighth.

Suddenly, the Saints would be in a cutthroat battle against last year’s grand finalist with no home ground advantage, meanwhile the Eagles – equal on wins with St Kilda – are on a neutral ground playing for a place in the last four.

There is pro getting on with life and developing practical strategies that gets labelled pro economy imo

everyone is pro health like on any issue but health is all encompassing not just covid stats imo

but I take your point, at the same time nothing wrong with healthy chat, it’s needed
