Most small to medium sized businesses should be eligible for cash flow support, they will get the relief when they do their next BAS.

Sole traders might be eligible for income support payments.

Closer to $10m

I hate to be a harbinger of more bad news.

But that is extremely optimistic.

I cast my eye over the financials 2019 (posted by Robbieando)
Most will not understand them , but they effectively show Sydney Swans were at that point close to technically insolvent ... in common lingo, "COMPLETELY BROKE".

Current Liabilities exceeded Current Assets
The $2m member fund or Net Assets was propped up by Work i Progress Asset development.

This is why the AFL is doing everything it can to have the season run somehow.

It's (AFL) TV media income is dependent on producing product
Players and staff are on contract and are not easily broken.
Members and Sponsors must keep their money IN without refund or reduction.

PS Can someone advise me how to multi quote posts? Please and thank you.

My actual frustration about it going ahead in the first place lies in the optics of it. At a time when we as Australians need to be taking this threat very seriously and practising social distancing, the AFL continues broadcasting it's contact sport to millions. Frankly it just sent a horrible message, especially when the AFL considers itself a beacon of leadership in the community. They then plowed ahead with the mentality that they could get around it somehow. To me, that's arrogance. We're now left with a season that, IMO, is compromised. Haven't agreed with any of their actions from the moment this thing became an issue so they don't deserve my patience or understanding. If you feel differently then that's fine.
Sure, that is a legitimate perspective.

But ultimately the main responsibility of the AFL is the health of the AFL, not the health of the Australian population in general. The latter is the responsibility of the government. In the absence of strict government regulations restricting football from being played at all, the league had a responsibility to find a way to make the season go ahead.

They were put in a position with no good choices. They made compromises that acknowledged the seriousness of the health crisis, playing games in empty stadiums minimised any risk involved in the games very significantly. I think they handled their conflicting responsibilities in a manner that would be expected.

Far out this is shit

So the construction industry looks like to be also going into lockdown?
