Literally my life right now is sitting around watching my career and industry be dead

yeah and its shit to see that happen to people like you and others I know

This is the thing that shits me most about the whole thing. They tell us we are saving lives, but for many people without work right now, the economy IS life.
This situation is made for someone like Trump IMO, who can weigh up economic and health concerns.
I think Morrison and Frydenberg have the right idea, as they know that smaller businesses are the ones that need the assistance the most, as they employ a significant number of people. But they're stuck because they can't just ignore the medical advice.
I can appreciate that.
I think they told us a while ago that we will have to wait perhaps 6 months. Now this was taking things when all was relatively unknown back a month ago. It's fair to say all has been good thus far. IMO I think that Easter & these next few weeks after was a big concern as to how people isolated or whether they ignored the pleas & still mixed, which in turn would see a spike in cases these next few weeks, such is the nature of the virus. If we don't have a spike these next few weeks then I have no doubt we'll start to see some easing of the restrictions in different industries.

Here's the problem. How would everyone feel if we eased things & then infections increased suddenly, forcing a further lock down in 2 months?
This thing's not going away in a hurry. I'd like to think that I will see my mother face to face safely again in the nursing home at some point.
If some other people feel that older people, the ill (young or old) can be gambled on then guess there's not much one can say.
We'll all die one day. But none of us can take our share porfolios with us either.

Touchy topic!

Only six weeks until NRL returns to action Thursday night 28th May. They have a letter from the NSW Police Commissioner saying it's ok. Maybe the AFL needs one of those letters.
And we might be too... with stringent conditions attached, I would think.

But I'd be amazed (and quite a bit concerned) if crowds were allowed to return then. I think we'll be banned until there is widespread testing available.

Based on ScoMo’s latest press conference I can’t see crowds at the football anytime soon if at all this year.

Agree with this. Everyone will be coming at it from a selfish perspective, which is understandable when it comes to matters of life and death. If you have job security then your primary concern is gonna be on protecting those most vulnerable to this virus, like the elderly. If you don't have job security, then your primary concern is gonna be on protecting yourself and your immediate family. There's no right or wrong view on it, everyone's just gotta do what's best for themselves and their families.

I do not envy the government's job of trying to satisfy both points of view.

I think the season will resume in June.

Just guessing based off Gil's fairly cryptic interview on the AFL site, but I reckon Gil already knows when they're going to return. He was adamant that when they make their announcement end of April, that they'll have a set date and a clear idea of the format it will take. That seemed like a pretty strong statement considering there's still so much up in the air between now and that announcement in a fortnight. Would he say that unless the AFL already knew? And what date other than the June start they talked about could they possibly be that sure of?

Well said and I agree, nothing beats self interest for all of us, human nature

Dunno, I think scomo will constantly undersell and rightly so as he will look a dick if he says restrictions are going soon then can’t do it

but I think if he stresses 6 months then things ease earlier he is a massive winner

Agree undersell and over deliver is always a good strategy.
He suggested things can go pear shaped at any time and so can’t be too optimistic.

Also winter is coming so game of throne puns aside that’s a milestone apparently.

Footy without crowds is allot better than no footy at all. At least the clubs would still get money from tv deal as well as sponsors

Not in Australia!

I should preface all my posts with 'in Singapore'.

You are only allowed to be maskless if you're 'exercising'. But otherwise it's a $300SGD fine

Can you wear a scarf around your face?

You can also make your own from old clothes
