Say we reopen small businesses and undo the mass gatherings ban, life goes back to relevant normalcy. 3 weeks later we start getting 100+ cases a day because of asympotmatic carriers or the like.

Good luck getting people to be on board with going back into lockdown again and closing businesses down again. They will be 500% safe than sorry with this.

Tend to agree, though guess what can you do if it’s a rule ?

I'm imagining worst case scenarios where a second lockdown would create violent dissent.

Wait to long they wont be anything left to open up, pubs and restaurants have resorted to doing takeaway only and are suffering massive losses.

This is where JobKeeper is supposed to come in. Have the govenment pay most or all of someone's wage then you can focus on paying your rent instead.

The world opens up and people will come in droves

Pubs will be the LAST thing to reopen probably not till the end of the year

There is 0% chance of any violent dissent.

Australians' don't stand up for themselves, and like to play the 'battler' card.

With respect that isn’t the case. Job keeper will mean their total wage cost is covered. Lease eviction moratoriums will mean they can’t be evicted for non payment of rent. Product only needs to be bought to meet customer sales so will make a profit. Stop the discretionary costs adverts. There then isn’t whole lot left. In short manage your way through the crisis. With the amount of government assistance available that can be done. First step is to accept reality and stop saying over and over how impossible it is. That won’t get you from A to B. Having a clear head and formulating a plan will

The government can't do that forever, the longer this goes on the more our kids will be footing the bill.

Another reason not to breed

It’s already not working for many though
Some can’t find the money to pay before they get job keeper, yeah ask the nice banks that’s a goer

some don’t qualify for job keeper you need the 30% reduction but a lot of sole traders or other don’t qualify but are cash poor so sack staff

there’s many stories about banks renters landlorders all working together not working

and the government funding won’t last forever anyway especially with less paying tax

many places won’t reopen, so there is a line where we protect old and Ill at the expense or people’s livelihoods and potentially lives

not saying we are at that point, but you make it seems easier than it is in reality to just wait it out imo

sounds like Scott Morrison sent you a pamphlet

guess those people hacking their super out are just waiting for the government money?

They will cut care and support for the needy then they will end up dead anyway from neglect/lack of care

All that’s happened is that an artificial bubble has been created to protect the economy for 6 months. Eventually the bubble will burst.
Discretionary spending has dried up and it will take a long time to come back to life.
The side effects of isolation will be felt for some time after the Job Keeper payment tap is turned off.

Mate I’m sorry. I’ll try and stop being so positive.

right now its out of our hands anyway and not even the "experts" know ,

we all have different experiences, in my line of work im seeing a lot of pain , so it shapes the view

Yeah I get that. The last two weeks I’ve staved off bankruptcy for two clients. It’s tough.
