yeah because his employer paid it

government dont send money until may

More than reasonable. Keeps people employed and that’s the goal.

Get through a few months and there will be light at the end of the tunnel so to speak

Might be a train

but I’m glad someone like millky is staying connected

Gerald Whately has become nauseating through all of this bloke is deadset against any possibility of a season restarting in 2020.
I haven't listened to a single AFL show since this lockdown started because I just can't see the point. It's like the lead up to the draft where they know FA only 100 times more boring

Never listened to him. What's he saying?

Holy moley some AFL players want the world at their feet as well.

Yet the NRL ones want to start...

Jeez some of these players are entitled...they are getting paid (which is more than most of the population might I add) to sit at home playing Xbox!

If you had just had a child or have a pregnant wife I think you would want to have your family there as well.

I think most players are going to join in, but can see why some would be wary.

FFS they're in the minority of athletes around the world being asked by their codes to front up when the rest of the world is in shutdown. The AFL are the entitled ones for thinking their players are above a) the mass-gathering law, and b) the emotional toll of living in a quarantine hub without their families during a very difficult time.

The other entitled folk are people like you who come on the internet to bitch about the players and how they should jUsT gEt OvEr iT and how aLL aThLeTeS hAvE tO lEaVe tHeIr fAmIlIeS. To which point I say how many cricketers, tennis players, golfers, soccer players, basketballers, surfers etc do you see out and about, just "getting over it" and continuing their sports?

Given France Italy etc outlining when large numbers can gather and where we sit it’s not unreasonable to think afl can kick off without hubs or only have them a short time

20 weeks with no family would be tough for many

what we don’t want is a solution that leads to mental health issues for players or their partners

the problem is the AFL wanting a start and commitment to an end date from day 1

I think we should allow them to travel and play as normal come June

Seems to me he is part of the vocal group of short term thinkers who think you can wait the virus out inside and live off love and peace forever

Or maybe he is one of those prioritising lives over livelihoods.

Even if you don't agree with it to say it's nauseating is dumb. I know it wasn't you but if someone is on the radio saying something you don't agree with, it's not hard to not listen to it.

20 weeks is of the most extreme scenario it wont even be that, the world needs to restart they are a LOT of ppl who for some reason would be happy for the lockouts to continue indefinitely.

Australia had over 300k hit by the worst influenza years in 2019 we also lost 910 Australians over 10x the casualties of covid-19 yet everything resumed as nothing had happened.

Whately didnt even want to play round 1.

The same cricketers that Spend weeks on end away from families all the time? They had the WC and then the Ashes last year.

If they don’t want to play that’s 100% fine but they shouldn’t get paid. It’s up to them. Bet they will want the income though. At the moment of course they are happy getting paid to sit at home and play XBOX and make TikTok’s. This is all at a stage where plenty of Australia are unemployed and aren’t making a single cent.

They will be able to bring family members anyway to the hubs more than likely if they wish.

Matter of the fact is most sportsmen are hypocritical they used to complain about the tough cricket schedules then put their name down to play a IPL season.

Trust me no play = no play will make them change their mind very quickly.
