I'm surprised there hasn't been an uproar about the amount of spitting and nostril clearing players seem to do. They spit or blow snot all over the ground and then slide in it a few minutes later.

Case in point is the footage of Essendon training where players are spitting everywhere.

I don't think it would be fun sliding in other players spit, Nasal mucus or urine (players have been caught urinating on the ground) all afternoon.

If things get bad in Victoria they should just make the Victorian clubs hub in WA. I'd like to see that!

I will just point out that if this happens, we'll then have to go into a WA hub ourselves at some point to play said Victorian clubs over there when its our turn to play away against some of the Victorian clubs.

Maybe its just me, but I'd rather not have the club stuck in WA for any period of time longer than a few days just so the Victorian clubs suffer a little hardship.

In any case the WA clubs shouldn't have a hub if their government isn't willing to open up to the rest of the country. There is plenty of other states and territories that are open or are opening their borders enough that if Victorian clubs need to leave the state, that the fall back option shouldn't automatically be the only state with a hard border.

Essendon players have been told that only one player has been deemed a close contact of Conor McKenna following a Department of Health and Human Services investigation.

From the Channel 7 footage, I would say there was more than one player [Jimmy Stewart] in close contact and whoever was in the gym session of McKenna!

Yeah, I doubt we'll be seeing a hub in WA. I wasn't being entirely serious, just trying to keep up my one liner count

Perhaps you have a misconception of what is the purpose of a hub in the first place. A hub is designed I would submit to create a competition free of the virus spread for all players for the duration of the year. Initially for convenience a vic hub was contemplated because majority of teams were in vic and the afl is vic centric. it was ALWAYS high risk it be there because Vic hadn’t demonstrated capacity to control the virus now culminating in community spread and with a player. The most logical choice is those states or state that will enable full years play without threat of virus spread. WA meets that criteria as does SA. Qld and Nsw less suitable because they are essentially rugby states so venue availability is a hurdle. Nsw hasn’t also eradicated virus though is better performed than Vic which is on cusp of rebound. The fact WA has kept borders closed is a benefit rather than detriment to choice because the virus won’t take foothold. ‘Punishing’ them WA for keeping borders closed is a somewhat childish factor in excluding that state. What relevance does that have to stated objective? Answer: None.

What will happen in practice is what always happens.....the vic centric AFL will always do what panders to vic and will stumble along with Vic as choice until it becomes untenable if it does which now seems possible even likely
