The Endzone
IRVING, Texas (AP) _ Quincy Carter is out and Chad Hutchinson is in as the Dallas Cowboys' starting quarterback.

The Cowboys made the surprising switch Monday, one day after Carter threw four interceptions _ two around the end zone _ in a 9-6 overtime loss at Arizona.

Coach Dave Campo called a news conference to discuss the move. He did not indicate a switch was in the works during his usual day-after remarks to reporters Monday.

Hutchinson has not played a down in the NFL and last took a snap in a game that counted as a sophomore at Stanford. He returned to football last summer after spending four years playing professional baseball.

Carter was rushed into the job, too, going from second-round pick to opening-day starter last season. He went 3-5 as a rookie and is 3-4 this season.

Carter pulled out the last two wins with stellar play in the final minutes, but the games might not have been so close if he'd been better in the first three quarters. He wasn't able to overcome his early mistakes Sunday against the Cardinals.

I just saw that Wurzell. To be honest I am a bit surprised at this move given that Hutchinson hasn't played a down and with the Cowboys banged up O-line he is a sack waiting to happen.

I think this is a move more to appease the fans than anything else despite QC's 4 INT game.

I hope Hutchinson succeeds. We get the Cowboys game this week on Foxtel so I will be tuned in with extra interest this week.

What are your thought Longboysfan?

I'm hoping the Seahawks will play better against the Cowboys...Better enuff ta win ?...Well I wouldn't guarantee or bet on that...iffin they don't improve, then this game has the potential to be yet another disaster:(

I must admit I was very surprised to read this. Carter hasn't be good, but the Cowboys were so openly supportive of him in the preseason.
Hutchinson is in for a very tough few weeks.

I think Emmitt still has 92 yards to go so it will have to be his most productive game this season to get them against the Seahawks, plus with a new QB the Seahawks will be playing 8 or 9 in the box unless Hutchinson can earn some respect with the passing game early. Tough long day for Emmit.

I do hope he gets them this week at Texas Staduim though. How good would it be for Hutch to hand off to Emmitt we he rips of the historic yardage. Pretty surreal for Chad I'm certain.

Seattle have met Dallas on 7 previous occasions...
Dallas have won 5...Seattle 2...

Three times a Cowboys RB has rushed fa a 100+ yards against Seattle...Twice by Tony Dorsett...once by Robert Newhouse...

Emmitt may just get ta add his name ta that list this week.
