Via is now an 8yo mare, probably explains why she has raced a little dour in the lead ups. She still has one hell of a big motor and will be ready to peak. Talk of Antino taking off at the 800 etc. I think it will be Via taking off af the 800 and good luck to them matching motors with her.
You absolutely nailed this, spot on!!

What was that ride on Antino, second time this spring they just sat. Obviously no horse under him to take off

Antino is a miler stretching out 2000m. A Doomben Cup win at 2000m doesn't always translate to being competitive in a Cox Plate. There's more pressure in a Cox Plate, Antino's tank was emptied. There's levels to racing both domestically and internationally. Let's not forget that Antino was thrashed in Hong Kong as well in the G1 Hong Kong Mile. So the question is...what's he beating in Australia?

Usually Cox Plates are high pressure races. Look at the winners....a lot of them had form at 2200m+...even 2400m+ and Antino doesn't fit that profile.

Pretty much all career peaks at 2000m for Antino. He is a 2000m horse. Thats not why he finished out the back

His peak is his 2000m win in the Doomben Cup but that is leagues below a Cox Plate - high pressure race.

Yeah so his career peaks are that Doomben Cup and his Turnbull which are both 2000m races so the 2000m wasnt the issue. He is just a level below the elite

He has severely under performed from his best in the Cox Plate anyway so pointless using that as a guide
