did anyone hear what Keenan was carrying on about this morning on the radio??? a friend of mine was laughing his arse off (I know but he is a mate...) about the trouble down at Arden St... something about player unrest with Laidley???

What station does the bafoon talk on? Wouldnt put too much credibility into what he has to say, makes it up as he goes along most of the time.

a young team will test out a new coach to see what he will or will not take, and jyd"S resolve will be tested.

could the team be a little upset by the delistings, and comments made about trying to save money whereever possible.

maybe some players who wanted out couldnt get out, bit of a worry 2003 as a season but one i wait with in anticipation.

Quite possible some tensions going

the first thing he does is delist a club champion

some people feel he is doing things the wrong way etc etc

hopefully Laidley will be able to get the respect of the player group and especially the senior players and the team can lay the foundation

He did what he had to do, l think Martyn is being a littl greedy trying to hang on for another year. l know its the 300 games he is after, but not in expense of the club moving forward. What JYD did is nothing different than what Blight did at the Crows, and look at what they achieved.

Let the dust settle, players climatise to the changes and we should see it all blow over. Being under Pagan so long can make you stuck in your ways, and l am sure we are guilty of resisting change at some point in our lives.

If there is unrest it comes as no surprise.

Schimma copped it early on...its the risk you take naming a recent explayer to coach.

Anyway, they haven't even started pre season.

Crackers doesn't work at the club, and is generally someone who needs to say something outrageous as all his peers are streaks ahead of him in terms of media capabilty...eg Keka and Newman.

Gaso;)

mick isnt decided yet on anything so i dont think thats the problem, hes going away this weekend to ponder his future, hope he chooses the coaching role.

as for suppossed in fighting, many people would love to see us fail after our reign at the top.

as for crackers he has to fill his show with **** just like all the other radio buffoons

This possible unrest is worrying as we still have some important players unsigned. At least Sinclair, Colbert and Grant that we know of. Now that the trading is over, the worst can happen if anyone decides to go into the pre-season draft. Don't be feeling safe just because of that lottery they brought in for the first pick between Carlton and St Kilda. The players can easily beat that by nominating the minimum salary, which would mean they get selected by who ever promised them that money...

Crackers said something like there was big trouble at North.
When he was asked to elaborate he said that Byron stated that he could never play under Laidley hence the trade.
This was on 774 at about 7.40 this morning.

It was Dean that was calling the Native Australians "Green", Arch did it al well, he had no problem playing with Arch for the last 6 years.....

Well if anyone doesn't want to play under Laidley "asta la vista baby".

The reports that I have heard is that Laidley was by far the most impressive candidate going around this year.

I will back him against any player trying to undermine him.

BTW, if crackers is right (and his nickname is enough to suggest otherwise) good on you Laids for giving Byron the arse. Leaders of men have got nowhere being good blokes!! :D :D

If its true - well BYron is gone so whats the problem? And if Byron did say that then its more likely to be a problem with Byron than a problem with Dean.

If its false - what a sh1t-stirrer. Di(khead !

All the kids I spoke to at the B&F seemed genuinley excited about Laidley being appointed.
Maybe a few senior players who have been sitting happily in their comforts zones for the past twelve months (stand up Shagga and Kingy) have been unnerved by Laidley's statement that the kids would get more opportunities this year and now feel threatened.
As I have previously stated, those players not fully commited to the restructure and future of the North Melbourne Football Club can heck off.

I can't remember the "green" comment but when that first racial vilification thing happened between Michael Long and Monkhorst in around '96 it came out that there were a few other players in the League who tended to use "racial remarks" to put aboriginal players off their game. It was said that one of these players was from North and it was certainly alleged that Laidley was the guy so Byron, being a strong member of the aboriginal brotherhood would probably shirk at playing under him.

i remember, carey was asked to comment on vilification on the field, as we were mentioned as one of the clubs who did use this kind of language. his first response was basically that "what's said on the field, should stay on the field"... in other words he didn't come out and say he dissapproved. he was asked a question on a similar vein the following day and then said then said that "there is no way that he or the boys condoned that kind of behaviour".

i must admit that when i heard carey not disapprove of villification i was disappointed with him. i remember my brother was pretty annoyed about it at the time as well.

the whole thing was abit odd, as north have a proud tradition of aboriginal players coming through the club. i didn't hear any of our aboriginal players of the time being upset ( i think there was only a yet to play byron on the list at the time, as winny and shannon motlop joined later). thankfully there are no more rumours linking us with racial vilification.

one byron wanted more money

two he stated he was going next yr anyway and initiated the option of trading himself

as for the racial slur i dont know about these.
