That is shattering news. Nobodys been more a fan of Callas than me, a player that works his ass off, and for that to happen is just rotten luck. Unfortunately i think we have seen the end of Callas career, i really hope not.
 
I have read all papers, looked on the st kilda website, and so far the only evidence that callas has done his knee is that someone posted it on sainters.com. Also the fact that he wasnt in the squad for the adelaide game. But if he had dont his knee, wouldnt it have been in the papers or at least reported on the news?? Lets hope this was a joke by someone, the longer we go on without hearing anything the better.
 
I didn't even notice him come off injured on Friday but I just heard it on the SEN news so it does look official.

Devastating news. He has not only worked so hard to get back but he's one of those quality individuals that all footy clubs need.

Hopefully he'll be able to play some role with the club for the rest of the season, perhaps helping out the coaches with the midfield.

I'm afraid it's true guys.

Expect Craig Callaghan to be a permanent member of the coaching staff shortly. At least that's what I'm guessing will happen.

At 28, last playing in 2002 & now facing an extra year off, it looks like his playing days are over.

On coaching, he's stated it's an interest of his & I can see him staying on in a role like that for us.

Top bloke, top team-man, I always liked demeanour both on & off the field. A shame.

I was the one that posted it on sainters.com. As I said there, when I do post these sorts of things, they are true.

I can assure you Tom, I certainly wouldn't post something like this as a joke.
 
Tis cool Scoop, i never doubted you, i infered that maybe your source may have not been 100%, but you were spot on. What a terrible terrible shame this is, was it his same knee that he did 2 years ago?
 
That's ok Tom, but I will say that my sources are pretty good.

As far as which knee it is, this time I'm going on what I've read, and it appears that it is his other knee.

I must admit that I wasn't wrapt when they redrafted Callas, but I do feel terribly sorry for him after all the work he put in to get back - similar to Francou, a soul detroying situation. And for Callas this could be the end. Nobody wants to see a player's career end this way.
 
What ligament has he done? Been written up everywhere but not one single report states what injury it is.

Gutted. I was looking forward to him helping Hamill with the enforcer role out of a pocket this season. Hard at it Harry.

Being a season ending injury in all likelihood he has torn his anterior cruciate ligament.

Just like to tell u that koschitzke and gram wont be playing alongside callahan and hudgton looks doubtfull.

Hamstring sidelines Koschitzke

Talented St Kilda big man Justin Koschitzke has hit another injury snag, after being diagnosed with a hamstring strain that will sideline him for up to three weeks.

The 21 year-old has been carefully managed by the Saints in the off-season after battling persistent back trouble, but injured his hamstring during the club’s defeat of Adelaide last Sunday. He did not return to the field after the half-time break.



After winning the Rising Star award in 2001, Koschitzke had his second season ruined by injury but managed 17 matches in 2003 despite requiring a month’s lay-off due to an ankle complaint.

Former Lion Jason Gram also damaged a hamstring in what was his début match for the Saints. Like Koschitzke he will be sidelined for up to three weeks.

Meanwhile, St Kilda still faces an anxious wait on key defender Max Hudghton, who injured his shoulder in the same match. A diagnosis is expected on Wednesday.

Despite their progression into the quarter finals of the Wizard Home Loans Cup, it turned out to be a costly match for the Saints. Craig Callaghan had his season ended by a knee injury, which requires a reconstruction.
