What does this have to do with Flint's football?

Flint played with the Gippsland Power in the TAC cup and came from Sale so he's headed home which is good for Country Football. :thumbsu:

I'm surprised he didn't stay in Melbourne and play with another VFL club.

Craig was elevated to the senior list and would have played a game if he didn't break his leg.

Craig is a slower and shorter version of Thornton because he isn't big enough to play on the power KPP, nor is he quick enough to take a HFF. Setanta's development into a backman and the likes of Bower, Jamison, Waite and Austin pushed him off the list. Not a bad decision when Anderson, Armfield, Pfeiffer, Browne, Bower and Walker are better equipped to take the HFF or give us more run from the backline.

Just curious as to how playing in the GVL is heading home to Sale is all.

Hey guys, thought I'd bump this and let you all know how he's gone (don't know how loved he was at Carlton so I'm not sure if you'll care or not! :D)

Flinty started off the season quite well, and played at CHB for about the first eight or so rounds. In an intraclub match in the preseason he played on ex Tassie VFL player, Ben Fagan, and did quite well IIRC. In the middle of the season the coach started moving Flint around a bit and tried him in different positions until he found his niche in the forward line (CHF I think, but I'm not great with positions.) I don't think he was a massive stand-out but he was very consistent, kicking around 2-3 goals a game. He reminds me of Tom Lonergan - can play as a defender and as a forward, is quite consistent and gets the job done but isn't a real flashy player. He's a pretty accurate kick and off the top of my head I can only remember him missing one shot on goal.

Flinty made the GVFL interleague side with three other Mansfield players. He didn't get in the bests in any of the games, or kick any goals (I think he played in defence though, so that'd be why.) Craig is really fit, and barely spent any time on the bench, I can only remember him walking the boundary once. I'm pretty sure he played every game, all up he kicked 13 goals and was in the bests 4 times. Unfortunately Mansfield lost in a heartbreaking game against the reigning premiers that we needed to win to get into the finals, so Flinty's season is finished. I don't think he could really make it as an AFL player, but he'd be a very handy VFL player.

He's not exactly built like an AFL player, quite skinny but I think that works in his favour because he can run fast if needed. Flinty is vocal and definitely had a football brain. Anyway, good effort by Flinty to get down to Mansfield/wherever we're playing every Saturday to play footy considering he lives in Melbourne. Oh yeah, and he still goes for Carlton even though you gave him the flick. (And he believes in ghosts, has an Italian BMT Sub before every game, tapes his own thumb and gets nervous easily... And no, I'm not his stalker, this was all in an interview in the local paper! :p) Anyway, he was one of the better players at the club this year and I hope he comes back to Mansfield next year if there's no opportunities for him at a better level.

Thanks for the update. Don't think I ever saw him play but must be hard getting cut. Hope he goes well. :thumbsu:

I don't play for them, but it's the Mansfield Eagles in the Goulburn Valley Football League.

I know where Sale is, so why did you quote my post?

haha about 9 months too slow on this reply, but...it's not very close to home that's why i quoted you.
