Literally everything the media does is motivated by one thing - revenue. Talking about Collingwood drives clicks and engagement which makes money. Pissing us off makes money. Praising us made money.

Once you get that then you understand why there has been a bunch of silly criticisms of minor comments Fly has made in the off season. It would be ridiculous to think that anyone cares about any of this.

It's just that there's a whole football media industry that has to keep running when there's nothing happening to actually write about.

Anything important will be covered in the mainstream way. But trade radio have a lot of time to kill...

Just imagine what Carlton or Essendon fans would make of the sooking about Fly on this board! Preliminary final in his first year -lost by one point. Flag in his second year.. Last year, in spite of an injury ravaged season, knocked off the eventual premiers in the second last round and just missed out on a top eight finish. This year- another prelim in which the eventual premiers could not shake us off until the final eight minutes after our crucifixion by the umps.

A record to have supporters weeping and gnashing their teeth.

If Fly is struggling, I can't wait to see the happy and healthy version!

Forget Oliver or Simpkin.

The biggest signing we can make this off season is the one of the coach.

Coaches and especially Premiership winning ones only 4 years in, generally want to avoid entering a new season without a contract in place beyond that year. As an example news of Chris Scott being in the process of extending beyond 2026 has been in the media in recent months.

I hope like hell an announcement is imminent otherwise this will turn into a big story come season 2026 and have us all worried about his intentions.

He himself has been put on the record as saying, that he doesn’t want to be a long term coach. Perhaps it’s a request of his not to commit any further.

He has one more contract, probably 3 years.

I acknowledge Fly has said he doesn't want to be a long-term coach. However, if he enjoys the ultimate success again in the next year, or two, surely he would want to keep going? If he has any competitive bones in his body (we know he does) he will want to keep striving for success.

Reckon the exigencies of life might keep Fly in the coaching game for a while longer. He has a 2yo to fund!

Spot on, well said

Another due next September as well
The maths I was previously acquainted with in these matters appears to have undergone a rule change - I'm slightly perplexed but nevertheless delighted that the Pies still have strong mechanisms supporting work-life balance

Some women can have longer gestation periods. Usually requires the father to go to prison or off to war.
Years ago I was a census collector. Knocked on door - attractive youngish lady in dressing gown and looking like just out of shower answered the door. I did the census blurb and she replied "my boyfriend is in prison, would you like to come in?"

I quickly replied - "lots of forms to distribute" and bade a hasty retreat.

Got home and wife said "how did it go?" - I replied "as expected".

That's a new word for me. Is it used in the law? Or have you gone really obscure?

While some more changes at the trade table would have been nice, it;'s good to see Fly isn't completely standing still.

We've now offloaded, WHE, Cox, Checkers and Mitchell. All 2023 premiership players but all over 30.

Any regrets?
