Channel $even should be ashamed of themselves.
The season opener and they stick it at midnight in Brisbane. What a load of crap. I hope they have the TV rights sold out from under them.
Sure it was Melb/Richmond but what about the old practice of playing games at 10:45 - at least we get a chance to see a quarter or two before our feeble bodies give out and succumb to sleep.
I've added a new entry to my list of scummy pricks along with lawyers, journalists and politicians: Channel Seven programming executive.

I sympathise

As an aside, I'm coming up to the gold coast on hols next week. Will the Hawthorn game be shown in any form up there (I realise the brisbane one should come first)

I rang Channel 7 Brisbane about the lack of AFL football being shown. Had a very frustrating conversation with Ann Dunstan, who is the programming manager. She was totally unbelievalbe. I was called a liar when I said we used to have live interstate Brisbane Lions matchs last year. When I said that acording to a Courier Mail article that the Lions vs Roos and Dogs finals last year were rated in the top 100 programs of any programms for the whole year in South East Queensland, I was told I had it wrong.Even though I have this article and it quiet plainly says that one of those games was in the top 5.I was told that no one would watch afl, that channel 7 would lose money, so therefore they are not putting on any lions matches of a nightime .As for other afl matches I was laughed at.
I could not believe the attidude.next Sunday night the Lions vs dogs is on at midnight.
The person to complain to isLes Riley, the managing Director. GPO Box 604, Brisbane 4001.
But I can't see anything changing. She was totally amazing. I personally believe that she doesn't like AFL.Maybe I am wrong, but something is wrong. Because AFL does rate in Queensland, and the Lions coverage this year is vastly different to last year.

The attitude seems to be:
"The Gabba is sold out for an Ansett Cup matches let alone home and away matches, but no-one would watch a Lions game on TV would they???"

I have Foxtel, and I do not want Optus as well, but I may have to get it to get some decent footy. Look at this weekend - even the normal Saturday and Sunday games are buried late at night.

I have an idea - log on to the Channel Seven site and go to the sports section. Find the AFL forum (click the Talking Point button) and voice your opinion like I have.

Hasn't changed in 10 years.

That's quite the bump.

One can only hope the impending change to anti-syphon laws will allow lower rating games to be shown on the likes of 7Two and One.

As I type there are two concurrent live World Cup games on SBS HD (Arg/Greece) and SBS2 (Nigeria/South Korea). This could only happen because SBS has a temporary exception to the anti-syphon laws. The re-jig of those laws can't happen soon enough.

What I don't get about those laws is who is it disadvantaging if they play two games at once? A lot of the time, nobody would be playing the second game otherwise (not even Foxtel, here in Adelaide at least, where they often have the same game playing on FTA and Foxtel over the weekend), so it's not preventing any other channel from having a turn at showing footy.
