Many cricket fans know that Don Bradman's first innings on each of his four tours of England were 236, 206, 258 and 107, all against Worcestershire, at that time the traditional county against whom all countries first played. These four innings give Bradman 807 runs at an average of 201.75.
Keith Miller had a similar run of form in his first innings when touring England. When he toured England in 1945 with the Australian Services team, he started with 105 versus England in the first Victory Test. In 1948 Miller scored 50 not out versus Worcestershire, in 1953 he then made 220 not out versus Worcestershire and in 1956 he made 281 not out versus Leicestershire. His total of runs in these four innings, 656, is not quite as high as Bradman's but because he was dismissed only once, his average stays at 656.
