Re: Create an AFL Guernsey (3)

sorry man but i REALLY don't like this design. I prefer the original which is saying something because i REALLY don't like that either. No offense.
No offense taken. If you post a design to be critiqued, you have to expect critics.

Nothing about Gold Coast's branding I think is particularly good. I just spent 15min whipping up a design I thought might be an improvement.

Re: Create an AFL Guernsey (3)

Whipped up another shield logo, not as happy with this one as the Crows one but still, enjoy!

That shield and ribbon are a good pairing. Maybe a little complex, but it works.

Two points I would make:

1. They aren't the Brisbane Football Club. I know it doesn't fit so well, but if you want to use a more formal name you've really got to use the whole mouthful: Brisbane Bears-Fitzroy Football Club. Alternatively just make the BBFFC a bit more prominent (on top somewhere?) and let LIONS fill up the ribbon.

2. I'd put the FFC monogram in the lower right and let the lion take up most of the shield. The Brisbane Lions don't use the monogram so its prominence seems out of whack with the idea of having the ex-club logos in the ribbon and a 'united club' on the shield.

Re: Create an AFL Guernsey (3)

I thought it was "Brisbane Lions Australian Football Club".
I think BLAFC is the trading name of BBFFC Ltd, the corporate entity, so its kinda 50/50. I've always taken the BBFFC monogram as a bit of a hint that that name matters "more", but I think both could be used with equal accuracy.

Ok my attempt at a Gold Coast design:

[home]

[away]

I know the general design (Red, blue stripe then yellow) is not totally original. I thought I would try and tone down the modern approach and go a bit more retro (including replacing the "GC"), in order to project a more 'established' feel.
This is GREAT! alot better then the Shitty gold coast jumper

It's pretty good. But Port one is still my favourite. Great job.

Btw you could have also used say the first hawks logo hawk perching kinda like what you did to the magpie.

I like this. I think the AFL should encourage all clubs to have both a 'Coat of Arms/formal' logo as well as a 'Mascot' logo for the kiddies.
I completely agree! Something similar to the Australian Domestic Cricket with the teams having the traditional monogram logo on the helmet and cap for the 4-day games, while having the flashy 'american college' style, mascot logo for limited overs. I think it's definetely something that the AFL should be encouraging. :thumbsu:

In hindsight I wasn't quite satisfied with the Hawthorn one so I have made some adjustments, I used the 'Hawks Head' logo, which was used as their logo during the clubs most successful period, I changed 'Hawthorn' to 'Hawthorn Football Club', I added the extra stipe to replicate the 1902 blue and red jumper and I added the club motto on the bottom just for a fun :)

Heres the flat one:

And here is the embossed one:

I would suggest working on getting the text into better alignment with the ribbons. If you're going to use a complex shape like that it really ruins the effect to see the text not match up.

Yeah totally agree with Mr E there. To be honest though I reckon if you did one for each team than that would be deserved of its own thread. Keep up the good work :thumbsu:

Good stuff Workhorse. I was just wondering if you could do a North one?
Thanks in advance and btw what program are you making the shields on?
I use Adobe Photoshop CS3 for the logos, its not that hard once you are used to it! :)

Here's the NMFC concept I came up with.
- I had orignally started this as a circle shape but when I was looking for a monogram I found an old shield logo from the 60's that NMFC used so I made one of a similar shape.
- I couldn't find the original NMFC monogram so I used the one worn on their jumper during their time in the VFA.

Looks good Workhorse. How long does it usually take you to make one?

Okay and now I will post a jumper. I made it in 30mins and it is for Tassie.
