I just reckon that'd be so badass looking, cos the two hues are so similar, just a few shades difference, in the sun the charcoal would really glisten.

Like if the pattern was say a skull and bones or skull and sabres, that'd be cool too. Or even if it was a lovely little puppy dog, doesnt matter, still looks evil.

The original idea for this came when we were discussing Port's AFL branding on the Port forum a while back now. The love for Pirates was pretty strong, but after the GC was announced with no mascot, a few of us wondered how well that might have worked for us when we entered the AFL.

I guess the Power is more a product of 90s branding, and if we had entered the AFL in 2007 and not 1997, we may have gone the way Gold Coast did. More simple, more streamlined, and allowing for natural nicknames to arise. I assume we'd have been referred to as simply 'Port' or 'the Blacks' by most people if we'd gone down this route.

One great idea to go along with that theme was (given that we couldn't have simply black and white) instead of adding a colour to give us 3, subtracting a colour, and just wearing black.

That way, we'd have been able to keep our famous PB design, not had any other colours infringe on the black and white and had a pretty tough and terrific looking guernsey.

I emailed the PAFC around 2001 suggesting black and silver prison-bars, they said at the time they were trying to distance themselves from the whole magpies/sanfl thing.

Now I just need to commission someone to create me a black jumper with a charcoal puppy dog, but badass.
Wouldn't mind the charcoal being more shades darker too.

Maybe the outline would need to be a bit thicker to stand out. But in sunlight it very much does (the slight hue difference). I cant explain the majesty of how cool it looks in real life (the black-charcoal thing).

The thinking is that the PB design would be a different texture, possibly printed on or something so it would show up a lot better with certain angles of light. So it's almost solid black, and from a distance does look solid black, but you can see the design in there.

Just to clarify this again, I remembered this post while watching the T20 tonight. Think of the dark charcoal on black being similar to how the bottom of the Aussie T20 singlet thing is, with the different textures of gold on gold. That's how I imagine it to be.

Seeing I made a Collingwood Breast Cancer appeal guernsey as my last design, I made a Freo one this time. Dunno why I chose Freo, just the first team that came into my head I guess.

I must admit, I like the body of the new Brisbane logo, they cleaned up and smoothed out the old logo I think if they kept the same idea for the Lions head it would have been a nice revamp of the old logo (the same idea as the Costa logo that has appeared here a few times). I've tried to trace the old lion head to suit the new body but I struggled, I might try again later.
