How are these guys still in a job?

- Totally mismanage the Player payments. Sutherland didn't even get involved until the last minute because he was doing... things...
- Totally mismanage the recent punishments. Go way overboard when public outcry is at it's peak, show zero regard for precedent within the game.
- Sutherland doesn't even watch Smith's press conference? Too busy doing what? Getting a blow job from his secretary?

And now we see that a high ranking CA official (the chairman no less) has sent an abusive email to the head of CBS. http://www.watoday.com.au/business/...etwork-as-bottom-feeders-20180404-p4z7rt.html

Are these guys the most incompetent sporting administrators going around? How do they continually make bad decisions and not be held to account?

There needs to be a complete clean out of these clowns.

Guess now we know, where old Davey gets his rage from!
Aah, they're all a part of the same entitled little bubble!

His work history is basically not available. Worked at Rio Tinto for 8 years, thats it, thats all we know and he is the chairman of the board.
That's not true in the slightest. A quick google will give you an overview of his work history. He got a a couple of economics degrees from James Cook, joined the Queensland Coal Association as an economist, then jumped across to Rio at the age of 30 and worked his way up through their various businesses.

Bloomberg and Who's Who have more detailed CVs if you're really that interested. None of it is a secret.

From the article in the OP:

Sources close to free-to-air television networks have been frustrated with Cricket Australia’s negotiation style, saying the broadcasters are treated as enemies rather than as future broadcasting partners.

Because that worked out so well for CA when they were negotiating with the players. Does Peever only have the one trick or can he just not learn from mistakes?

Sutherland rivals Houdini for his ability to escape from trouble unscathed.

fair enough. His Rio Tinto history isn't what i was expecting. Bounced around a few of the small product groups and ended up at Borax for 10 years.

The man hates unions and organised labour.

Steve Smith and David Warner led the players and ACA against CA in a protracted pay dispute. This is what they are being punished for, not for scratching a ball.

Peever likes to divide and negotiate individually. Look at how his influence has wrecked the australian TEAM. Now they are nothing but a group of individuals thrown together randomly. No chance of winning anything of consequence but no chance of any player ever having the influence of a Smith or Warner.

Hmm, over triple the widely accepted optimum CEO tenure length.....

That would be the board’s failing then not Sutherland’s. It’s probably too long for anyone but it can be assumed he’s achieving his KPIs and that’s why hes still there.

done something right for himself thats for sure.

TBH i can't see how being the CEO is actually that hard.

You should go and get a CEO job then, with that sort of pitch you’ll be a shoe in!

Not as easy to find a 28 year old who can bat at 4 and average 60 as a 28 year old with a forklift licence....
Sure it is, when you're a monopoly employer.

The fact the board backed down in the pay dispute is far more of an indictment than starting the fight in the first place. It's only contributed to the players thinking they can do no wrong.

Give David Peever the heave ho. He's been at war with everyone - for what gain? Just to improve the bottom line at the expense of getting the players and now the broadcasters offside? Those kind of admin bureaucrat types who just cream money off the top of other people's hard work piss me right off.

The Chairman's role is an honorary one anyway right - why is being such a hardass in that role?
Guy sounds like a campaigner.

Sporting organisations are the biggest bunch of boys clubs you'll ever find. It's basically baked into their very existence. The 'shareholders', which in this instance I would call the fans, have essentially no power because each organisation has a monopoly - i.e. if you want to watch top level Australian Football, you have to follow the AFL. If you want to follow top level cricket in Australia, you have to deal with Cricket Australia.

On top of that, unless you are actively trying to sabotage the game, it's practically impossible to not make money hand over fist, because we're talking about sports that have essentially been baked into the social fabric and consciousness of Australia over 100 years. So there's zero reasons for people within the boys club to rock the boat - because if everyone just shuts up and stays quiet, there's a lot of money to be made. Look at say, the NRL. I think even ardent league fans would agree that the administration of the game has been poor at best at league and club level, and yet everyone keeps making more and more money.

So on the one hand no one externally has any sort of power to change the status quo. On the other hand, internal stakeholders want to maintain it because it's the sweetest gig going around. That's how you end up with decades of incompetence and cover ups with no accountability.

Handscomb made 24 runs in the test match...

Belka - You forgot about screwing our players over with Monkey gate.

Their s**t treatment of Symonds.

The Argus review, effectively being a review of everything... EXCEPT THE ACTUAL MANAGEMENT OF CA.

s**t pitches.

Selection clusterfuxks.

Moronic scheduling.

They’re just *******s.

One of my mates is a Union official, and he’s on the same bus with your view here.

Argus is the same - a real union busting type.

great to see Cricket ( NSW) Australia appoint NSW old player Rick McCosker to head up the independent review
Wow cant wait for the results , any thoughts guys
they still dont get it, we who live in other places other than NSW know what the problem is
