4 of those in his last 5 innings, and the other one was a 71 not out :D
Hopefully he's getting all his good form out of the way now, and he'll be in a form slump in time for the Ashes :).

Root has had a great 2021 and 2022, but you can see the McCullum affect in his numbers against the same opposition in the same nation 12 months apart.

Top 15 Highest successful run chases. Only losing 3 or 4 wickets in the 350 to 400 range for a run chase has been common.

I remember the Windies beating Oz in 2003. Sarwan and Chanderpaul lead them to victory with a bit of help from Lara.

I remember SAF winning in Perth in the first test in 2008-09, partly because they regularly win in Perth / at WACA, but I don't remember it being such a big run chase. For some reason I do remember JP Duminy's 50 in the second innings on debut helping them win, probably because next test he made 166 in SAF"s first innings at the MCG next test and they won by 10 wickets.

I was wrong that both Oz and India had to chase 403. Oz was 404 and India 403 but India scored a couple of extra runs than Oz.

The 15th one on the list was Gordon Greenidge at his brutal best. Most people thought it would be a draw England declared 9/300, just over 5 hours left, maybe the poms could pinch it. Greenidge said no way, made an almost a run a ball double century, Haynes got out early and Larry Gomes with his deflections and flicks made a 90 odd not out for an incredible 9 wicket win.

Yes, J.P. Duminy turned out to be a bit of an unfulfilled talent. When he debuted in 2008 he looked like he could be anything but he never really made it to the top despite some outstanding innings. He made that 50 at the WACA and followed up with a brilliant 166 in Melbourne but finished his career in 2017 with a moderate 32.85 per innings in 46 Tests over a 10 year career. He certainly liked the WACA as he scored a second century there in 2016 when South Africa toured Australia.

I guess when you look at South Africa's batting talent over the decade in which Duminy played it is not hard to see why one would need to score big runs consistently.

I would think that the Aussies will want as many as possible in their first innings, hoping to bat just once. It'd be great to see Carey silence his critics with a big score, which will hopefully enable us to pass 450.

Sri Lanka 3/262 and trailing by 102.

Australia need some quick wickets or they may need to bat exceedingly well in the second innings.
