SA parochialism aside, is this a problem?

Not really, simply countering the bias we get from the Eastern States. Carey is doing the job and there is room for both Carey and Inglis in the side but that will not stop the calls for Inglis to replace Carey. Inglis is possibly a better batsman but Carey is a better keeper.

Pommie media blasting our men's cricketers for "stats padding" against a minnow cricketing country in the Sri Lankans.

Of course they are 100% correct. And of course they've never done that before themselves either! 😳

I actually think our women's cricket side is more blatant than the men at this. The brazen hussies 😒

Been stats padding to the extreme against the worst sporting team I've ever seen - the English women's cricketers 🤓😃

God I can't wait for the Lankans to next beat them.

They should be blasting their own girls for their fielding at the MCG!!!

Bring Konstas in for the second Test, Head at 3.

Have a mental health rest Marnus.

Boland for Murphy.

I am bemused that Shane Warne never won an Alan Border Medal yet Shane Watson won twice and Mitchell Marsh won last year. No justice in that.
The Medal came into vein ‘late’ or recently, Warne didn’t play much ODI cricket in the back half of his career, injury and that pesky pill mum gave him saw to that. There was ‘always’ a rift between him and the rest of the playing group, possibly driven by S.Waugh if rumours are to be believed, and you question the politics behind the voting.

In Watson and Marsh’s cases their T20 cricket was pretty good from memory in those years. One is not like the other.

Warnes respect was built from the eye test and statistics, like Bradman. As time moves forward, it is up to us as nuffs of game to educate the next generation of the immense talent that was S.K.Warne.

Carey scores his second test ton with 2 sweeps for 4 in the same over off Jayasuriya.

Deserves it after bloody Cummins robbed him of a ton when he made 98 not out in Christchurch last March when he and Marsh - 80 - saved Oz, when they were 4/34 and 5/80 chasing 279 to win. Cummins could have farmed the strike a bit rather than taking a lot of the strike and smacking 4's.

These are the Oz designated wicketkeeper batting stats, when Carey was 102 not out.

Apart from Gilchrist, it looks like Oz long term keepers get 1 hundred for every 4 to 6 fifties they score.

I checked how many 90's Oz keepers have made to see how much disadvantage that 98 not out for Carey might make.

4 Marsh
3 Gilchrist
2 Carey and Haddin
1 Paine, Tallon, Phillips and Healy.

Carey ends the day on 139 not out.

Only other higher scores by an Oz Keeper.
Gilchrist 6 scores between 144 and 204
Healy's 161 not out v West Indies in Brisbane in 1996-97 series, I went to that test and he smacked it everywhere. Oz won.
Haddin's 169 v NZ in Adelaide November 2008. Oz won by an Innings.

Smith with his 36th century joins Root and Dravid in the top 7. 3 more and he could go past Sangakkara.
I knew Tendulkar has 51 and Kallis and Ponting have in the 40's but had to look up where Smith sits in that top 7 and top 10. He has a great conversion rate and is behind Younis Khan and fractionally behind Kallis.

Given the way Smith is batting he could do it in the 3 tests in the Caribbean in June and July, after the World Test Championship final.
