They've been around a while now. Why are they an annoyance?
A bit too much backyard cricket / Big Bash for my liking and so far removed from traditional cricket and what ODI cricket was growing up. I'd argue that the '99 World Cup wouldn't have been any better with free hits. The idea of a bowler delivering a legal delivery and the batsman being able to slog and not go out has never really sat well with me. The batting team has already received the extra run from the no ball and the opportunity to score from the actual no ball delivery it without being able to be dismissed. Yes, the batsman might not know it's a no ball at the time so won't slog, but the extra delivery and run is adequate compensation.

anyone recall asking for Hayden as coach? shut up, Haydos!
Langers dumbarse mates have basically cost themselves any chance of working with current side anyway, they were fine dictating terms when they were in side(marsh was tubbys pick for coach and buchanan waughs guy ect) but they think current lot need to shit up and just do as they are told even though haydens era were the ones that pushed for player power now that their playing days are over they want to pull ladder up behind them and tell current lot to have no say.

I guess it can be annoying for those of you lacking basic arithmetic skills. For the rest of us, nbd.

But it’s not. Basic arithmetic skills tell you that ‘a player’s 67th half century’ is not his 67th half century at all, it’s actually his 94th, or whatever amount of centuries he’s scored PLUS the amount of times he’s scored between 50 and 100.

I mean yes it’s not going to tear apart western civilization but it’s still an incorrect assertion.

Slow over rates.
More specifically the way the onus and penalties are always on the fielding side.
You have batsmen getting new gloves every few overs, getting drinks in-between overs, sometimes the over before the official drinks are taken!

Which goes into my next gripe that there needs to be more common sense when breaks are taken.
If the players are getting drinks between overs, and are behind the over rate there shouldn't be drink breaks taken.

Also if they are behind they should shorten the tea breaks etc.
And where there are rain delays there should be more common sense in amending stoppages to play

On the last point: ‘lunch will be taken AT:’

F**k off dipsh*ts.
Take lunch this f**king instant.

It is the dumbest thing in sport, bar none

100% this. The practice of batsman changing their gloves every 20 minutes is infuriating.

The "arms crossed on the chest" signal umps need to give when a decision is overturned.

Looks like some stupid thing Prince Harry's therapists tell him to do.

Commercial tv

That would explain why I haven't seen it, but is it worse than the Foxtel "how many balls will be bowled this summer" advert?

That one was cute to start with, but feels like it's been airing for 3 months now

The two Tower of Babel teams, Brisbane and Melbourne, whining about loss of players to the PMs XI v Pakistan next week.

The match at Manuka is a trial match, ahead of the First Test.

The fact that it's almost December and we still have players overseas playing in meaningless competitions.
We'd pretty much won the Ashes in 2006 by the time they're starting the 1st test this summer.

This annoyed me.

By the end of this T20 series Australia will have played 26 matches in India this year

After the 2 tests very late in the year we will have only played 3 international matches in Aus this calendar year - 1 test v South Africa & 2 tests vs Pakistan.

3 matches in Australia in a calendar year is quite embarrassing. I understand it was a packed overseas schedule what with an away Ashes and a WC overseas, but that's still pathetic.
