Australia in this Test is North Melbourne. We start with a flourish - on top early and without being spectacular, but we control the game and steadily build a lead. By about half time we're 6 goals up but with some lapses (the Overton/Woakes partnership) cough up a couple just before half-time. Still, we recover just after the break, re-establish the ascendancy and it looks good. But we squander a few chances to drive the nail in (Smith doesn't enforce the follow on). Bit-by-bit the opposition lift and get a few breaks and we look panicky (Australia's 2nd innings). Right now, it's early in the last quarter. The lead is good enough and we still have the upper hand, but the opposition has all the momentum and we can kind of see what's going to happen. It's car crash in slow motion stuff. Sack Lehmanns.

Captain is having a shocker!

His decision making in this Test has been terrible.

Even a mug cricketer knew not enforcing the follow on was a dumb decision.

He has now gone into panic mode, because he knows he might have ****ed up big time.

Those reviews were nothing more than a bloke hoping to get lucky.

Australia should still win, but they have given the Poms a sniff when they should have had the foot on their throat.

An absolute 'mare!

Over confidence. Bad reviews. Gobbing off. No runs. Dropped catches. Didn't enforce follow on. Full of his own hubris.

Well if they do, hopefully it makes Australia rethink this policy of never enforcing the follow on.

Bowling to an England side down on confidence with the new pill during the night session and good chance this Test is now finished.

Throw in making his own team bat in condition totally unsuited to their strengths. Talk about giving the opposition exactly what they want.

Shit just not going our way now
They have no one to blame but themselves.

Never give a sucker an even break. Bowling in those conditions last night could have destroyed England for the rest of the tour. But instead they got a shot of confidence by making our batting line up look second rate.

That catch was very tough and the review/LBW calls are annoying but Australia are really not creating enough chances so far tonight. I know the conditions aren't the same as last night, and Anderson is a freak when the conditions suit him, but this has been pretty pedestrian bowling.

All partisanship aside this is some bloody excellent test match cricket!

This first test was excellent as well. If England manage to win this it could end up being one of the all time great series.

Am I the only one that doesn't find the Barmy Army funny or interesting at all?

Not just now when they're getting into the Aussies, but I've never understood the appeal.

Just a bunch of yobbos getting pissed and mouthing off under the pretense of being a supporter group.

Wat is that motion they just did with the arms?

The review signal, they're having a go at Smith because he wasted the reviews early and doesn't have one.

Nah I disagree. They provide excellent banter imo and a great atmosphere even when it's a bit dead. A great example of British fan culture as well, all sports there have fans that go along, sing and have an all round good time. Why not do it in cricket?

Yep. But apparently they sing good songs. So yeah, nah.

I suppose I'd have less issue if the Poms could actually take a joke or criticism.

They're offended by the slightest thing (I have family there, they agree its true), Shit they were offended that Smith laughed in his presser listening to the recounting of the 'headbutt' incident, as in so legitimately salty they wrote articles on it and how it was disrespectful.

But they can't take it, yet they send out a team of supporters to take the piss out of their opponents at every game and have zero issue with it.
