What do you expect?

We are a nation that has been brainwashed to bark on command to Pavlovian outrage cues.

If you're not outraged, you're an arseh*le, and automatically excommunicated..

It’s because they are a bunch of entitled campaigners!!
Smith lost me with those ****ing sooky faces he made all Adelaide test when he didn’t send them in and it almost came back to bite him. campaigner lost it at players for the slightest opportunity not being taken and just acted like a prat in general.

Couldn’t have happened to a better pair of flogs

Smith, Warner 12 month ban.
Bancroft 9 months.

Good. We’ve taken a strong stand. Onus now back on other countries to do the same.

Du Plessis surely wouldn’t want to get caught ball tampering a third time.

One thing now, Aussies can now take the moral high ground when called cheats by other countries. :D

Nice and all we've taken a strong stance.

But still grates on me that in legal terms we've given a 10 year sentence for shoplifting, either side of 2 shoplifting cases that were given a fine and community service.

We're doing a reverse *efc

Yeah, it's harsh, but it now sets a standard. CA need to be consistent from here on in. The players are now on notice. If this can't fix their behaviour nothing will.

Sets a standard for Aussie players sure.

But does sweet **** all for the ICC where it's actually a long standing problem.

Absolutely, we all know the ICC are a paper tiger controlled by their overlords, the BCCI.

Huge statement by Australia.
Now Boof needs to be dealt with. If he’s not gone then then the CA are full of shite.

Yep. Even in the unlikely event that he didn't know about it, this has happened on his watch. The James Hird situation. Need to go and start again with fresh faces and attitudes.

Agreed. Ignorance of not the knowing is just as bad as being complicit.

Surely Langer or Punter are front runners.

I’ve heard reports that Punter runs a tight ship and really mentors and develops players. He is also a brilliant strategist.

Perhaps CA may go down of the path of separate coaches for ODI-20/20 and Tests.

Who ever does come into place will have thier work cut out building a new culture and healing deep wounds.

Warner and Bancroft are cooked. That’s the last we’ll see of them.

Smith still a chance to come back after the ban, but he’ll need a new attitude and a shit tonne of runs.

Harsh penalties IMO. Whilst I’m happy to see the back of Warner, I think 3 months was enough. Whether or not cricket is played in the 3 months, isn’t the point.

Shane Warne got suspended for the diet drug.

Remember?

Time flies. Time heals.

:thumbsu: Smith will be welcomed back and in 5 years when he becomes Australia's greatest run scorer barely anyone will give this a second thought.

Warner, not so much.

But, but, his mum gave it too him.

He was also the greatest bowler in the history of the game.

Murali says hi.

Point being that at 28, Smith is still young for a cricketer.

Comes back for the Ashes and makes runs galore and no one will care.

Here's the measuring stick for redemption....Wayne Carey.

And here's who else will be bobbing up by 2020 somewhere...Albert Hird.

Australian sports fans have the biggest hissy fits, deservedly so, but somehow they allow them to redemption.

(FWIW, cant stand Carey on TV)

Smith a shit tonne of runs? Wtf.

I think his record speaks for itself mate.
He will be a walk up start. Trust me.
After this summer when the Indians and Kohli rip us new assholes we will be crying out for someone the calibre of a batsmen like Steve Smith. I just hope he mentally gets through this as I for one would love him back in the squad as a player. Not captain. He should of never been made captain in the first place.

Let’s not forget that Steve Smith is currently the best Test batsmen in the world by a country mile. His record in the last 4-5 years has broken all records. He may be a ****ed leader but like Warne who served his 1 year doping ban he will walk into the Australian Squad and be welcomed with open arms. Steve Smith is highly respected amongst cricketers in Australia.

Agree on Warner though.
