I don't think we should take anything away from England. Their scatter gun approach to their batting line-up worked for them this time. Sometimes they'll get rolled, other times they'll break a record.

Amazing innings by Stokes but, come on, even a park umpire would have no trouble giving him out LB with 2 needed. Umpire Wilson would get a very severe captains report if he was a park umpire which is about his level.

Couldn’t sleep a wink after sitting through that crap. Nothing but admiration for Stokes’ effort. What an innings! The wasted review, fumbles Lyon and that f***ing dolt Wilson not giving an obvious LBW decision. FMD! [emoji107]

Bring an angry Starc in, welcome back the immovable object Smith and wrap this crap up in Manchester. F***!

With you T.T.

Which batsperson and which ball deliverer go in and out ?

I always thought that 350 odd runs wasn't enough, but fmd, talk about tearing defeat from the jaws of victory, even discounting the embarassment that is Joel Wilson, coulda, shoulda, woulda.

359 worried me from the point they 2 1/2 days to get them.

I'm another who stayed until the end. You could see it unfolding as there was no tactical plan to take the last wicket - they assumed it would come. Zero inspiration in the field and really dumb bowling from the quicks. I yelled at the TV when Paine went for that f***ing ridiculous review. He had a poor day, to say the least.

But Stokes was sensational - the courage, tactics and execution were all extraordinary. And they needed to be, as this combination was the only chance they had to win. And he took it.

How Joel Wilson and Aleem Dar keep getting games is beyond my understanding.

Truly amazing innings by Stokes. In all honesty the missed run out was where it was lost. The lbw was very close but Im not convinced it was as plumb as some are claiming. It shows the balls going straight on to hit stumps. Lyon is a spinner on a 4th day pitch getting some spin so any simulation is only a estimation of what would have happened had the ball continued on its course and it fails to take spin into consideration.. Stokes himself has said he thought the simulation was incorrect. Could have, should have, its sport. It throws up its controversy's. Still 2 tests to play and Smith and Anderson should be back so both teams will be at their best for first time in series. The best team will win it from here.

Wilson and his buddies have been so bad the players are questioning every decision.

Wilson should have given Stokes out because they still had a review. If it was incorrect it would have been overturned. By giving it not out nothing could be done about the incorrect decision.

Such a pity another game is decided by the umps after an amazing Stokes innings.

You know the umpiring really was disgraceful and when kt himself turns on them.

Why does it say original decision is out. It was given not out. From that shot it looks like ball is going straight on to clip bails. There is too many inconsistances with ball tracking. Umpire on field rightly or wrongly thought it was not out. Either way opposition supporters would have been questioning it

Yes, that bit about original decision is wrong.

But I disagree with your earlier call that tracking didn't take into account the spin, because it absolutely did. From the point where the ball pitched, it physically changed direction towards the stumps, as you would expect from an offie, and the only extrapolation is from the point of impact with the pad (very low and inside). The ball was going nowhere else, it was hitting where the tracking said it would.

I'll be honest, watching it live; I actually thought the ball slightly clipped the front pad to marginally change the direction of the ball more towards the stumps when it hit the back pad. I don't want to watch the replay again to prove that I was wrong, but that's what I thought live. Big Joel may have felt the same.

This. You could see the deviation took it towards the stumps, and it hit low. Definitely out.

We had three chances to end it though, and only one was denied by the umpiring. So at minimum it's 2/3 our fault.

Absolutely. I said similar in my earlier post.

I once had to give a nasty captain's report to one umpire. I was at mid off and the bowler was running in to bowl when I heard someone talking. Turns out the umpire was watching the Cox plate on his phone. I stopped our bowler and have him a blast.

Was also the game one of our batsman grabbed an opposition player by the throat after copping a send off.😁

The weak prick reported him, but was too gutless to go the tribunal.

i agree with Khawaja..but Starc's hardly bowled the last few weeks and he strikes me as someone who needs the work to be at his best

There's a County game before the next Test. If Starc bowls well in that I think he'll come in.
